The day was here. The day where we go outside into the world.

Riding on our hoses through the crowd, we received so many different expressions from people. Some looked at us with hatred, disappointment, and others looked at us with disgust as if we were rodents.

The best thing was to ignore it all, but there was one face I couldn't ignore.

It was Jonathan's.

I have wanted to talk to him multiple times before the expedition, but I never gave myself that final push. In return, he never acknowledged me. He simply continued to glare at Armin.

I didn't know what he was trying to accomplish with the intimidation.

However, there was one thing I was sure of.

Jonathan was definitely planning something.

The gates begin to open and we all held onto our reigns tightly. I was positioned on the right flank, the same flank as both Armin and Jonathan, but we were all in different positions, all of us riding alone.

"ONWARD!" Erwin shouted above the crowd. His voice echoes off buildings and walls.

Then we were off into the great unknown. Our heartbeats were added into the galloping of the horses' hooves. Anticipation hung in the air like ornaments.

As kids, we have heard the tales of the Survey Corps making their way outside their walls and fighting ferociously. Some kids would run through the playground playing titans. They saw it as a game.

Now that it was happening, it didn't take long for me to realize that those games were nothing compared to real life.

Armin's POV

My heart speeds up every time there is another flare that was shot into the sky. It was just the beginning, and I already want it to end.

As I looked around me, all of the soldiers were quite a distance away from me, except for one position. The person ahead, who appeared to be riding alone, was slowing down.

I thought it was a mistake at first, but as the person continued, I realized this wasn't on accident.

I watched the rider carefully as he or she neared me. Whoever it was had their hood on.

I began to grow wary of this situation. There was only two people I know who would slow down for me, but only one person who wouldn't want me to know who it was.

The rider was nearly side-by-side with me. I tried to speed up, but he would just speed up as well.

Suddenly, he made a leap for me, knocking me off my horse. I let the reins go on accident and the horses continue to gallop on without me. The same happened to Jonathan's horses.

"What are you doing?" I shouted. "You're going to get the both of us killed!"

"Exactly," Jonathan laughed as he pulled out his blades. "I'm here to finish what I started."

There was no other option for me if I wanted to live. I'd have to fight Jonathan. I drew my blades as well.

"You little shit!" He shouted as he lunged for me. Luckily, I blocked his blades with mine just in time. "You know there isn't a use for people like you in the military right? You're so weak. Look at you!" He laughed again. "You're like a twig." I continued to focus on defending myself rather than attacking him. "Why would she want someone like you over someone like me?"

"Maybe it's because I'm not a selfish, envious bastard," I uttered back.

His eyes instantly lit up, and in a bad way. "You have such a big mouth for someone as little as you."
