Chapter 4: Turf War

~8s POV~

We arrive at the Turf War Arena and I start to feel nervous again; what if I did badly? What if I didn't get along with Cora's friends? "Hey Tobias, Tobias!" Cora said my name and I looked up, she had found her friends and wanted me to meet them. I kept my head down as I was shy, I am an introvert after all. "Tobias, you gonna say hi?" Cora asked me, she could see I wasn't very comfortable, so she came over and told me everything would be ok. Afterwards I looked up at her friends and said hello; they all seemed extremely friendly and keen to become my friends.

"So this is Sonia and Leon," Cora gestured at the two standing next to each other. Leon had short, orange hair and wore a hoodie with jogging bottoms; Sonia had long, purple hair that was pinned in place with a black bandana that matched her white t-shirt and denim jacket, as well as her leggings. "They've been dating for a few years now." I waved slightly and they both smiled at me and waved back.

"And this," Cora paused and sighed, "this is my brother, Lance." Lance had lime green hair, just like Cora, but his outfit was totally different! While Cora kept her hair long, and in two sections, with a comfy outfit, Lance had short hair, with... armour?! Cora came over to me and whispered into my ear, "just to let you know, he is really annoying, so be prepared." I looked over at him and he was sat down polishing his Areospray, unlike the rest of us who were stood up and ready to play Turf War.

"So is everyone ready?" Cora asked. She looked exited, and energetic; she was definitely ready to play! "I'm ready Cora," I said it quietly, I was still unsure about making friends since I was still fairly new to Inkopolis, but I was also ready to take on the challenge of making friends. "Me and sonia are ready!" Leon spoke, holding up his Clear Dapple Dualies and Sonia held up her Sploosh O-Matic 7. "You coming Lance?" Sonia asked him, he looked up and rolled his eyes. "Go and do a couple private matches, I'm not quite ready yet." "Ok, but be quick, every time you say this you're never ready in time!" Cora stepped forward and told him. "Ok, ok, I'll be quick." "Cmon Guys! Let's go have fun!" Cora raced of and we followed, leaving Lance behind alone.

We walked into an elevator together and chose the map and teams we were using. It was me and Sonia versus Leon and Cora; and the team colours were Magenta, like my normal colour, and green, like Cora's normal colour. The map was Starfish Mainstage, it was large and hard to navigate around, but with a bit of work, I could get used to it. Sonia saw me looking at the ground, worried about the battle, so she helped me feel better. "Hey, it's ok to be nervous about turf war and making new friends. Just like you, I'm an introvert, and I don't like large crowds of people or making new friends, but after a while, you get used to it, and you start to feel like you've conquered a feeling that you couldn't change. And as for turf war, it's just for fun! After playing with us, you'll be better and have a better technique!" She smiled and then faced toward the arena, with a serious face, ready for the countdown to end. I felt so much better after she told me that, Sonia is a great friend, I'm glad that I met her. Next thing I know, the bell goes of and it's time to fight...

"Follow my lead!" Sonia told me and started to cover the ground in ink. So just like her, I started to ink the ground in magenta coloured ink. "I'm gonna find a high spot so I can snipe!" I called out to Sonia, she nodded and kept moving forward. After a few seconds of looking round, I found a high spot and got ready to test out my new skills. The first few shots I took missed both Leon and Cora, but after a while of watching and waiting, I got the perfect shot and hit Leon. "Great shot!" Sonia shouted to me, "Thanks!" I shouted back, but then I saw Cora sneeking up behind her, ready to splat her with her Custom Dualie Squeltchers. "Behind you!" I shouted to Sonia, and in no time she turned and managed to splat Cora.

1 Minute Remaining!
I heard the bell for the 1 minute mark, from what I could see, Sonia and I had covered more ground than Cora and Leon, but then, Cora and Leon had made a comeback... They were covering everything and had got back in the lead! Me and Sonia came back together and formed a plan, we would charge up our specials and attack, hopefully splatting both of them and winning! So we got to work. After about 10 seconds of spraying ground, both our specials were ready, we only had 30 seconds to pull it off. Sonia used her ultra stamp, or as she likes to call it 'ban hammer' and I used my baller. We started to cover ground, but as we were doing so, splat! Leon jumped down behind Sonia and splatted her! My baller exploded and I only had a charger. So I started firing shots at Leon. He dodge rolled, and managed to miss every single shot.
