Tarrant Hightopp/ Mad Hatter
~~~You tossed another hat to the side as Tarrant, placed another one on your head.
"Hate it." You complain. He rests his chin on your shoulder and looks at you through the mirror."You sound like bloody red." He teases pulling the hat off your head and replacing it like clock work.
"Stop it." You laugh, hitting his chest. "I need you to make a hat that doesn't grow my forehead."
"None of them do really. You're just picky."He replaces the hat again and you gasp.
"What? What is it darling?"
"It's perfect, Tarrant." You smile.
"Is it? I didn't like that one." He frowns, tilting the hat a little more. "Although, you make it look better somehow."He pulls it off and you fix your hair.
"What are you doing to it?"
"Officially making it yours." He smiles pointing to the stitching inside. Your initials were stitched inside.
"Thank you Tarrant but I have to say." You pick his hat off the desk and put it on your head. "This one will always be my favorite."He laughs and replaces his hat with yours, kissing your lips as an apology.
"I promise. I'll make you one. One day."
"It doesn't count yet." You hold your pinky out. He hooks it with his and kisses it.
"Now it does. Get some rest Mrs. Hightopp."He looks out to the navy blue sky. Stars sprinkled like freckles across a face.
"Goodnight Tarrant."
"Sweet dreams." He places a final kiss on your forehead and takes your hat off in the process.You pulled it off. You got Hatter's family back and now he would live happy.
"Thank you y/n." He hugged you tightly.
"You're welcome Tarrant."He let you go and went to converse with his family a bit more. You went to opposite way and faced the queen.
"So? What now?"
"I go back home I guess."
"Y/N, you know you want to stay here with Tarrant." She smiles.
"Of course but I can't. Now how do I get back?"
"You're really going to leave us? And the Hatter again? He'll be heartbroken. His wife leaving all the time doing who knows what with another man." She crosses her arms and looks off.You roll your eyes and look at your ring, smiling softly.
"I can't believe we did it." You smile sitting on the kitchen counter. You swing your feet back and forth.
"I know. Tea?" He holds the cup in front of you, smiling.
"It isn't tea time." You laugh
"Hmm. All the time is tea time."He shrugs, kissing your cheek and setting the cup in your hands. You take a sip and he smiles.
"Good." He giggles. "I just wish you could meet my family."
"Oh Tarrant. I would've loved to meet them. I know how happy that would make you."You look back at Tarrant and his mother. He looked so happy. He catches your eyes before you look away and smiles widely. He sneaks around some family members and runs to you, grabbing your hands.
"Come on."
"Where are we going?"
"You're gonna meet my family."
"What?" You pulled your hands away making him frown.
"What are you doing?"
"Tarrant, I can't meet your family. I'm going home."His hands drop to the sides and his hair fades.
"But when we got married." He holds his ring up like an nervous child. "You said you would meet them."
"Hatter-"
"Can I ask you something? What is so important that you always go back?"Nothing. Nothing had become more important than Tarrant Hightopp.
"Excuse me? You're the woman that saved us." A man resembling Tarrant came up behind him.
"Yes she is." He stepped aside, his frown not showing any sign of going away. "She's also the woman I married." He looked up at his father taking your hand.His father smiled and pulled you in for a hug.
"Welcome to the family." He let's you go and looks you over. "You did good Tarrant."The Hatter nods. "Yes but she's leaving. She has somewhere to be."
You couldn't do that to Tarrant any longer. You couldn't keep leaving him.
"That somewhere can wait. It can wait forever for all I care." You lean into the Hatter, putting your head on his shoulder.
You hear him let out a subtle laugh as he takes your hand again, kissing the back of it.
"Oh look at that she's staying."
"Wonderful."You smile as he walks away. Tarrant turns to the open field and takes a deep breath.
"Do you know why is a raven like a writing desk?"
"No. No I don't. Do you?"He giggles and shakes his head.
"Nope. But I'm glad you're staying."
"Me too. Maybe we can finally enjoy being married."
"Oh yeah. I meant to ask you. What's a honeymoon?"You laugh and wrap your arms around his neck.
"I can show you better than I can tell you Tarrant."Word Count: 541
