Come to the ball he said. I have some people for you to meet he said. It'll be just a minute he said.

A minute turned into an hour. An hour turned into several and you couldn't get him away from his drug dealing friends for the life of you.

You looked down at your gown and sighed. Another dress just gone to waste. He'd buy you another one though. Thats how he apologized. Buying you things but one way or another they ended up thrown out.

You thought maybe hanging out with the wives would cure your boredom but nope. All they talked about was how much their husbands spoiled them with the intention to one up the last to speak.

Eventually they ended up asking you.
"So... y/n what has your husband done for you?" One asked. You simply rolled your eyes.
"I need a drink."

So then you found yourself at a lonely table near the bar, watching your husband from afar. You ordered champagne and every time you downed one it was promptly refilled.

"God kill me now." You groaned as you began to down another glass when it was taken from your hands.

You thought that maybe, finally, it was your husband ready to get in the car and go home but no.

When you looked up to the man that interrupted your sorrowful drinking, it wasn't him.

"I've watched you down enough of these to make a small dog drunk." He smirked, setting the glass on the table.
"You were watching me?" You stood up to match him. He'd looked pretty tall from your seat but when you stood, he was only a few inches off.

"Well when you say it like that." He laughed. "I'm George."
"I don't care." Your ready to walk away when you saw your husband prancing over to you two with the stupidest smile on his drunk face.

When he approached, he slung a heavy arm over your shoulder almost pushing you to the ground.
"Ah George! Y/N! Have you met George?!" He practically shouted in your ear.
"Honey your yelling." You tried your best to keep him on his own feet as he leaned into you.

He laughed obnoxiously and threw his head back. You rolled your eyes and tried to hold in the urge to drop him. George saw your discomfort and snickered.

"Hey man. You should head home. Your wife looks pretty tired."
"She's fine." He hiccuped as he reached to grab what was once your champagne glass and downed in one gulp.

You gave in and dropped him into the chair as he laid his head down on the table.

"Fuck you Jose." You whispered as you wiped the sweat off your forehead.

"He must be a handful." George said.
"Yup." You smiled.

What did he think he was doing? Did he think he was getting to you with his kindness and concern? Who did he think he was with his perfect face and fluffy hair?

"Why are you smiling?" He smirked.
"Listen. George, is it? I don't know what you think your doing but it's not working."

You walk out to the lobby to get some air and some space between you and George. But of course he followed you.

"I'm not doing anything." He chuckled as he stayed close behind you, as you carefully went down the stairs.
"Then why are you following me?" You turned.
"I wanna make sure you aren't thinking of driving home." He smiled innocently.

You hated him. You hated the way he attracted but repulsed you at the same time.
"What?" He asked as you kept walking. "You have a problem with me caring?"
"As a total stranger. Yes! In my experience it never ends well. So please, back off."

You pushed the double doors open and the night air hit you like a flood. You took a minute to cool down before you searched your purse for your car keys.

You'd never trust Jose with them. He'd loose them in  his beer. But just as you were about to find out where your husband parked the car, the keys were taken from your hand.

"And that is why I was following you. Are you trying to total your car tonight?" He gave you a sly smile.
"Give me my keys."

You reached for them but he held them above his head. You sighed as you jumped for them. He chuckled at your struggle, holding them farther away from you.

"George quit it!" In a final attempt he pulled the keys down as you jumped and you fell onto him. His arm went around your waist and he held you close for as long as you let him.
"They're right here baby." He smiled bringing the keys to your face.

You snatched the keys from his hand and pushed him away.
"You're playing with fire messing with me like that."
"I can take the heat." He stepped closer to you
"How about the burns?" You froze as he lifted your chin.

"You're worth it."
