"Hey, hey Emerson!  Get up, we've got class today!" Daphne threw a pillow through my curtains and broke the silencing charm. Well that's just plain rude. 

"I'm up! Godric, give me a second to get up will you?" That was a good dream too. Dream Dad sat with me in a meadow of violets and lilacs and talked to me about everything, he was aware that it was just a dream. It was one of the best though. Daphne threw another pillow through the curtains and nearly hit Harlem in the face.  Harlem looked at the direction the pillow came from in disgust, relatable. 

I got up and changed into fresh school clothes, Dumbledore said that I was in charge of showing a new student around. I'm not sure why he asked me, but it didn't matter anyways. I ran down the steps of the girls dorm and was met with Blaise asleep on the couch with his book over his face. Huh.

"Blaise, hey get up." 

"Princess? Ugh leave me alone." I glanced over to the table next to him and there was an empty mug that reeked of alcohol. 

"Firewhiskey? On a school night?" His groans gave me my answer and I shrugged. Oh well what can you do. 

I made my way down to Dumbledore's office and step in, his half moon glasses glistening with intent. Uh oh.

"Ah, please Miss Black. Let me introduce you to our newest student, Noah Pierce. They've already been housed into Ravenclaw, so please show them around and to their new dorm." I nodded and the person, I guess Noah, stood up and smiled at me. 

"Hi, I'm Noah."

"Emerson, pleased to meet you. Let's get going, there's a lot to see." A bright smile shown through and we set off to see everything. We started with the Great Hall and grabbed some toast for our journey. Next was the Ravenclaw tower and the classes the fourth year Ravens were taking today. After that was the other three common rooms, I had explained I was a Slytherin and my best friends were Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors. Then was the Quidditch pitch, which seemed to be of interest. Hmm maybe the Ravenclaw team will have a new addition. Finally we ended up back at the Great Hall. 

"Woah, there's a lot of stuff here. Very different from Beauxbatons." I couldn't help but laugh at the genuine honesty. 

" Oh yeah? I've personally never been to visit Beauxbatons, it does seem like a very proper school though ," I looked down at my watch. "Salazar, I gotta get going. I'm gonna be late to my DADA class if I don't hurry. I'll be sitting with my friends at Gryffindor today, you should join us. They're all super nice, the twins may question you for a second, but they mean well." 

"Yeah, I'd love to! Oh and hey Emerson, I didn't mention anything before, but I'm non-binary. That means I'm neither female or male, so I go by they and them. I still really hope we can be friends, and that you'll try to understand as best as you can."

"Don't worry about it, I'll try to remember I promise. There's no need for you to be purposefully uncomfortable here. And for future notice, don't be scared to tell anyone here. None of us will judge you. Take my word for it." Their smile lit up brighter than it had before and they nodded. I took that as my cue to leave and I basically booked it all the way down to DADA class. 

The full moon was tonight and Uncle Remus was in hiding getting ready for his transformation. Even though Wolfsbane let him keep his mind, it did nothing to help his pain the few days after. Quinn had already taken him some breakfast to try and help him, which he appreciated a lot. He'd never tell you, but it was one of the things he loved most in life. 

I walked into the classroom and quickly made my way up to Uncle's desk. Ugh, really? Why couldn't Dumbledore have anyone else take his spot???

"Miss Black, would you care to explain your tardiness?" I took the signed letter out of my cloak pocket an held it out.
