Chapter 19

KYLE'S POV

I noticed something about her after she came back from their dorm.

She keeps a distance from her friends, and most of the time, she is unfocused every time she is with them or even with us. I also noticed that she was looking at the ring on the court during our game, but she didn't even look at us, so she didn't even notice that I kept on staring at her every time that I had a chance to look at her.

Even when we sat down at the next table besides them yesterday, she didn't even bother to look at us. She stayed there and continued to eat her lunch, and when she was about to walk away and Ark asked her, I looked at her eyes and noticed something. Her eyes were telling me that she was someone. She liked someone who could give her attention and listen to her rants.

Her eyes looked so sad, but she still managed to smile and assure people that she was fine, even though I saw her sadness.

Then I was so shocked when she checked on us yesterday before she went back to their dorm, and I noticed that maybe she was doing it because she needed to. When I saw her walking down the road and suddenly one gray BMW car stopped in front of her, I got a bit alarmed, but it told her to get inside, and she also went inside that car. Since I was too curious about it, I followed the car, and it stopped and dropped her off in front of their dorm before she went inside, and she even waved her hand at the car before it left her.

I suddenly got curious. Did she already have a boyfriend? Why was she too distant from everyone? Why does she keep hiding her sadness on her own? Why was she too mysterious? That's why I got curious about her. I didn't follow the car after it left her. I drove home after that.

AYA's POV

Thursday went like the usual day again.

After attending our class the whole day and spending an hour in the library, I have to check on the team after that.

On Friday, the varsity team had a game, and it was their second game. I just wear my casual clothes, but since yesterday, they have all teased me about wearing something blue, so I just wore a blue shirt that had a print at the back and a small quote in front.

I and my friend are currently sitting here in the lower box, behind where our team is.

Gaya ng mga nakaraang araw, I still act like everything is fine and that I'm not hurt.

I also joined my friends in cheering for our team, Dahil alam ko. Kate also noticed my behavior. Kate knows me really well, so she can easily notice if I'm really fine or not.

Magaling din ang kalaban nila, but mas magaling lang talaga ang team namin, especially Puro Sila traing every free time they have. That's why they are really good at it.

Mark and Leo were the power and small forwards, and Ark was the center since he was the tallest of all of them. Tom was the point guard, while the rest were shooting guards. I can say that Carl and Kyle were really good at shooting. Both of them kept on scoring. That's why Kate always cheered for Carl every time he scored. although their other teammates were also good at it. Carl and Kyle were pros at it. I was also impressed with Kyle because he always scored three points every time he shot the ball.

At that time, all of the babae, including some guys, humihiyaw. I also noticed that he kept on glancing in our direction, but my eyes immediately turned to the other team to avoid his glance. Nahagip din ng mata ko si Stacey, na nanonood din kasama ang friends niya sa kabilang side, and I think she also noticed Kyle's glance at us, so nang magkatinginan kami bigla nalang tong umirap sakin.

I had a bad feeling about it, simula nong sinabihan niya ako ng masakit na salita nong lunes, but I ignored it.

But now, unti unting nadadagdagan yung pakiramdam ko na kaya siya nagagalit sakin because she admires Kyle a lot.

Our team won against the other team, so after the game, hinintay namin sila sa labas para makapagbihis muna sila.

After a few minutes, lumabas din sila sabay sabay, and then we all just congratulated them. I forgot to mention that Kasama rin namin ngayon sila Kylien and Ana.

"Hey, girl!" Mark greeted us. Habang sinasabi niya yun kay Kylien, lang naman siya nakatingin, so Kyla and Chloe rolled their eyes at him.

"Let's go," Leo said.

Yeah, come on, guy. " Carl Carl Carl

"I'm hungry," Tom admitted.

Kaya pagkatapos non dumirestos agad kami sa malapit na restaurant, which is Shay's.

Habang kumakain like usual kwentuhan parin, but most of the time, asaran caused Mark and Leo to always tease Tom and Ark, and I always laughed pag inaasar sila kanina pa inaasar ni Mark yung dalawa dahil kay Kyla and Chloe. Mark stated that Kyla was a bagay daw sina Tom, and Ark was a bagay daw sina Chloe.

Actually, I shipped them because I had the feeling that I didn't like Tom and Ark because of Kyla and Chloe, and I can see them together in the coming years.

I'm also attempting to become more at ease with them, despite the fact that I had trust issues and am afraid of being left out again.

Throughout the lunch, I noticed that Kyle was silent, but hindi na din ako nagtaka pa dahil nakwento sakin ni Kate na ganyan raw talaga siya. Kate keeps telling me that Kyle is my boy version because he is tahimik and seryoso, and I can tell she is right because I simula ko siya ganun na siya.

Naalala ko rin. Carl also told me that he was sobrang seryoso din si Kyle when it comes to his studies and basketball. That's why he guided his team well.

They all stayed inside the restaurant for lunch, while I went here to the library, where no one could bother me.

Since there was still a game in the afternoon, I chose to stay here while my friends and the team were watching the game.

After reading for almost an hour, I decided to stop reading and just stare in the window for a few minutes before I heard someone sitting at the next table, and that got my attention.

I was a bit shocked when I saw Kyle at the next table. He was also handed one book, and he just sat there while reading it. I can clearly watch him. Dahil nakaupo ito paharap sakin, pero medyo malayo rin ito sakin dahil may sa upuan at the table sa pagitan namin.

Like I usually do every time na may ibang tao, I just ignored him and continued reading, but for the second time, nawala ulit ang attention ko hanggang sa namalayan ko, nalang na nakatitig ulit ako sa bintana.

Until I heard him go outside, hindi ko parin binaling ang atensyon ko sakanya. Then, after spending my whole afternoon at the library, I just met with my organization after that before I went home.

When I was about to go to sleep, my phone rang again, and I noticed that Lance had texted me to pick him up tomorrow. I also read some messages in our group chat, and they asked me to join them tomorrow to go to the mall, but I refused since I had to meet Lance tomorrow.

Saturday

Lance texted me last night. He fetched me and drove me to the restaurant where his mom and I used to meet before he got back here. Since Lance is also studying here in Manila but not at our university, he was studying in Jacues, so we don't usually see each other.

I just told him why I'm distant from other people and why I was quiet the entire ride home when he dropped me off.

"Then I think you should start to give yourself a chance again to redeem what you lost before, but that doesn't mean that you will give your trust easily to them," he said.

"Yeah, I know that." "That's why I'm trying to be comfortable every time I'm around them," I said.

"That's right, but sea I know what you've been through before, but I think it's about time to free yourself from it already."

"I'm trying, Lance, but it was hard and it wasn't that easy," I said.

"I know," he admitted, "but please, I want to see you happy again, like before the sea."

Pagkatapos, he sent me home, and my friends also asked me who was the one who sent me home, but I promised that I would introduce him to them another time.
