Tai was destined to rule, after all he was the heir of the throne, but it wasn't that easy, sure, he was the crown prince but that didn't guarantee that he would become king.
Besides the royal family, there was also a council that was able to influence in the selection of the next ruler, this was made as a way of preventing unworthy members of the family to access the highest position, when the heir reached the minimum age to be crowned, the council could request a voting session and if the majority of votes were against the royal, the right to the throne could be denied.
Of course there were limits to this power as the ruler at the moment had the last word, it's also important to know that the voting needed solid arguments to be taken in consideration, if the future ruler was susceptible to causing damage or didn't have the necessary capacities to guide the kingdom they could arrange a meeting with the king/queen and request that another member took the throne.
When the members of the council saw the future king with a fresh scar on his face, they were anything but happy, you see, Genzo is a country that's very loyal to their traditions, unfortunately some of them can end up doing more damage than good.
In Genzo, you couldn't rule if you had a facial scar as it was considered a sign of impurity and corruption, the roots of the tradition are unknown but people say that one of the late kings had a scar on his face, he was one of the most remembered rulers of Genzo, for all the wrong reasons.
Under his tyranny, Genzo went through the worst economic crisis in its history, some even said he was responsible for the conflict between Genzo and Yami, was that true?, nobody knew, what they did knew, was that he was the reason the council was created and probably caused the idea of the impurity of the scars.
Since they told him the scar on his eye would be permanent, Tai had been constantly worried that the council would try to forbid him from getting crowned, sure, the queen could deny the request, but the doubts were still there, he knew the council was very hard towards those they considered unworthy.
Soon enough though, that became the last of his worries.
Reports started continuously coming, most of them said that soldiers from Yami had been seen close to the borders of Genzo, usually this wouldn't be an issue, but the reports showed that they were actually preparing to attack the close villages.
Although the situation was quite alarming, especially considering the events that occurred during the last 15 years, it didn't seem like a real threat so the queen decided to go and meet the soldiers and negotiate peace.
You must be thinking that she was ambushed by the soldiers, well yes, but not in the way you expect, even though they definitely were guards from Yami, they didn't seem to have ill intentions, so the queen was able to talk to them and, being the kind woman she was, allowed them to stay on the borders for a couple of days before going back to their kingdom.
Everything seemed to be a misunderstanding and something irrelevant that wouldn't cause any type of consequence... that, until night arrived.
