Tai fell to his knees, the weight of his actions falling on him, suddenly he realized, the dream in which only three words repeated was actually a premonition, his mind was warning him about what he was going to do, if only he had listened.
"You were the one who declared war" Those words kept repeating in his head, he never noticed his sister approaching him.
"Tai?" Safiya knelt in front of her brother and rested her hand on his shoulder "Everything it's going to be alright"
"NO IT'S NOT" He didn't want to scream at her but the guilt was too much "HE'S RIGHT, IT'S ALL MY FAULT, I DECLARED WAR, I MADE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DIE AND ALL BECAUSE I LET MY FEELINGS CLOUD MY JUDGEMENT I-I"
He couldn't hold it in anymore and started loudly sobbing, almost to the point of hysteria.
"Tai listen to me" Safiya said calmly over his sobs "You have a lot of pain in your heart, your reaction is understandable, I would have done the same" She tried to comfort him while wiping his tears with her thumbs.
"It still doesn't justify what I did" He said quietly, almost whispering.
"I know it doesn't but, I believe that your mistakes won't define you"
"What do you mean?" He asked confused.
She stood up and said:
"This mistake is now in the past, of course, that doesn't mean it should be forgotten, we all carry our regrets on our backs but I believe that, what you do now, as the new king, will define how you'll be represented in history"
She extended her hand towards Tai but he was hesitant.
"Do you think the people will forgive me? I made them suffer when I should have protected them"
"I don't know brother, but even if they don't, I already forgave you and I will stay by your side"
With those words, he took her hand and after standing up, they looked towards the horizon.
"Do you really think we're going to be alright?" Fear was evident in his eyes.
"We can't know unless we try, but eventually, flowers will bloom, birds will sing and both Genzo and Yami will see the light again"
"Let's go back home"
After a last glance at the rising sun, the twins went back to their kingdom to begin their reign.
