Chapter 11: CRDL

Lapis's POV:

Okay, so we've got our instruments for practice. Now we need to plan our first rehearsal. I kept walking through the courtyard, when Cardin showed up. And he was pissed.

Cardin: Now boys! Get him!

Suddenly, all of Team CRDL attacked. I dodged each swing without much thought.

"Woah! What the hell's your problem?!"

Cardin: You're my problem! And it's about time I fixed it!

I'm his problem?! Wait, he's trying to get revenge, isn't he?

"Damn. At this rate, he's gonna pummel me!"

Just like that, I started using my Semblance so I could dodge his team's attacks.

Cardin: Now! Hit him and he'll go down twice as fast!

Wait?! He knows the main weakness of Blazing Drive?! I tried dodging, but Cardin and his team hit me from the sides. I checked my Scroll, and my Aura was in the red.

"Damn it! I can't let him win! I won't! Rrrraaaaaagggghhhh!!"

My Aura flared again. I don't think I could maintain this for long, but if I ever want to see my team and Ruby again, I cannot lose!

Ruby's POV:

I wonder where Lapis is. His team and I were told to meet him in the Courtyard.

"So, do any of you know why Lapis wants to meet us here?"

Ranger: Beats me. Think he might have something planned?

Dia: Could be.

"Hm?"

Before I could get my answer, I saw a bunch of students grouped together.

"What's going on?"

Student: Some guy with blue hair is fighting Cardin Winchester! And losing!

Ranger: Wait, blue hair?

"It can't be?!"

Dia: It has to be.

Vermillion: Sadly, it is.

Ranger: Why? Lapis would never instigate a fight like that!

Dia: He didn't start the fight. He was ambushed.

"We need to help him!"

We rushed to the front of the line, only to see Lapis, with Cardin standing above him. He kept kicking Lapis.

Cardin: You're a disgrace! How is it you can handle an Ursa, but not me and my team?! That's right! You killed it because of Jauney boy. Without your precious friends, you're nothing! Pathetic! A bug that needs to be squashed!

Lapis: N-ngh...Sh...ut up, Cardin.

"Cardin! Knock it off!"

Cardin: Ahahaha! Die Lazuli!

Glynda: That is ENOUGH, Mr. Winchester!

Cardin stopped as soon as he heard Professor Goodwitch.

Glynda: You and your team are to report to Professor Ozpin's office, immediately!

Cardin: Grr, fine!

Glynda: As for you three, get your leader to the infirmary, quickly!

"I'll go tell the others!"

Glynda: As you wish, Miss Rose.

Ranger: I got him!

Dia: Let's go! I don't know if he'll make it.

Ranger: He will! Come on!

Dia's POV:

We rushed Lapis to the infirmary. He tried speaking, eventually regaining consciousness.

Lapis: N-ngh...D-amn...

"Hang in there, dude."

Ranger: Save your strength bud, we're almost there.

We made it, and thankfully he was still alive. Ruby caught up to us.

Nurse: It's a good thing you made it when you did.

Ruby: Is he gonna be okay?

Nurse: He'll be fine in a few hours.

Ranger: All right. Ruby, is everyone on their way?

Ruby: Yes!

Ranger: Good. Now, let's give him time to recover.

Lapis's POV:

God, what the hell happened?! Ugh, that's right. Cardin and his team ambushed me and beat me in a 4 on 1. When I awoke, I saw my entire team in front of me.

"Hey guys."

Ruby: Lapis!

Dia: Thank god you're alive.

Team RWBY, JNPR, and CFVY ran in.

Yang: How's he doing, Ranger?

Blake: He doesn't look too bad.

Velvet: Oh my, are you okay?

"Yeah. Little banged up is all."

Ranger: I wouldn't say that...

Dia: He was trying to kill you. We were lucky enough to get you here on time.

Vermillion: I would love nothing more than to return the favor, but it's not worth getting expelled over.

Jaune: At least you're alive. Guess we both know what it's like to get pummeled by Cardin.

"Yeah..."

Coco: Everything alright, kid?

"Yeah."

Yang: You're pretty tough to have survived that.

"Hehe, thanks Yang."

Dia: Listen, I know we're all excited that Lapis is still alive, but he needs some rest. We should give him time to recover.

"Thanks, Dia."

Dia: Think of it as repayment for not helping you out in battle.

Ranger, Dia, Vermillion, Team CFVY, Team JNPR, and Team RWBY left.

"(wincing in pain) Ow, that hurts. Must've been a close brush with death."

Well, it doesn't matter. I'm alive.
