Your POV

Racetrack Higgins. That's the name of the boy I've absolutely HATED since 1st grade, and we're in highschool now.

It all started when he would steal my stuff, and never gave it back. I asked him politely to give my stuff back, but him, being an ass, never did. And things just escalated from there, with us nearly killing each other sometimes.

The only issue that I can't get around... Is that we're a part of the same friend group. The group was originally named News Flash, Boys, since most people were from either the photography club or the School Newspaper club. Then it got shortened to Newsboys, when the photography club got shut down. Then a couple girls joined the group, and it got renamed to the Newsies, so that's the story behind that.

Well, it's summer now, which means that I get to be around my friends more. It also means that I have to be around Race, too. God I hate him, and that stupid smug face, his degradingly charismatic smile, his ugly hair that-

"We're always out there, Carrying The Banner man to maaaan~" My phone sings a song that my friends made together, letting me know that it's one of my friends that's calling me. I reach over and read the name on the screen, "Romeo". I smile to myself and answer the call.

"Hey, Romeo, what's up?" I ask the boy who always calls and never texts.

"The Newsies was gonna go down to Jack's house tah hang out in an hour, and I wanted tah know if you'll be there," he asks. I think to myself if I have anything busy before answering.

"Yeah, I think I've got time to hang out," I say. I can almost hear his smile from the other end of the phone. "Will Race be there?"

"Yeah, he's a friend of the group, so of course he's goin'," Romeo says, making me groan in annoyance. "You know, you really need to give him a chance. He's a really sweet guy once you get to know him."

"I'll give him a chance when he gives me one. He's been a jerk to me forever, so why should I even try?" I grumble, which makes Romeo chuckle.

"Well, you're gonna have to get along one day. Anyways, see you in an hour!" Romeo yells before hanging up on me.

I smile to myself, just imaging hanging out with my friends. We basically act like children, and not like teens. We play kids games like Hide and Seek and tag, and it's super fun.

I hop up out of bed and walk over to my closet, where I grab shorts and a crop top, since it's summer and insanely hot outside.

Once I get changed, I walk over to the mirror in my room and admire my outfit. Everything's complete, except for one thing. My eyes.

Mine, and every other person's eyes are grey to me. Every person is born to not see people's eye colors, and they can only see eye colors once they kiss their soulmate. I have yet to find my soulmate, hell, even have my first kiss.

But anyways, I play on my phone for a while, waiting for the carpool to come by. And after about 30 minutes, the sound of a car horn goes off and I sit up from my seat.

I run out the door and see that Albert is sitting in the driver's seat, looking at me as in to tell me to get in. I smile and skip over to the car, open the door, and sit in the passenger's seat. Looking in the back, I see that no one else has gotten picked up yet.

"Who are we picking up next?" I ask. Albert looks down at his phone, where I see he has his google GPS opened.

"Race, then Specs and then Jojo," Albert says. I nod, trying not to complain about Race and I being in the same car.

Albert begins driving, and sooner than I'd like, we arrive at Race's house. After a couple seconds, Race walks out the front door, turning around to wave goodbye to someone in the house. Once he turns back around and sees me, he glares, and I do the same.
