Chapter 4. Avoid? How?

Chapter 4.

Classes passed smoothly, some students were enjoying, some were sleepy, and some didn't have care.

Mew was trying his best to focus but Gulf was always catching his attention as he was sitting one row away in front of Gulf.

He decided to act cool and just ignore what he is feeling towards the man. He hope that this way, his feelings for Gulf will not grow deeper.

Gulf feels so much worse than Mew. He didn't know what to do. So he just sat on his chair and would just move if needed. He's feeling tensed from the fact that Mew was sitting behind him and could clearly see him.

In three gradings that passed, the two had a real hard time focusing on their studies but still managed to make their grades high.

In everyday interaction, they had to act that they're not attracted to each other when the fact was, they always wanted to see each other and be close to one another.

When they were seeing each other, it felt comfortable and peaceful that's making them happy but they both chose to hide their feelings because it's new for the both of them.

"Can I borrow your notes Gulf?" Eddie, one of Gulf's friends, asked while holding Gulf's notebook.

Everyone's busy because their final examination is going to happen the other day.

"You already have it, asshole. Thank you for asking any way."

Gulf said while nervously rubbing his thumb on the lowest layer of his school uniform as he noticed that Mew was walking towards him.

He's now good at acting cool every time Mew's getting close to him. He wanted to avoid him but when Mew's not around he misses him so much to the point that he wants to see him even at midnight.

"Gulf, Mr. Castro wants to see us in his office." Mew said without looking at Gulf's eyes. He is afraid that he might stutter if he see his beautiful eyes.

He doesn't want Gulf to know his feelings because he is afraid that Gulf will avoid him if he knew the truth. Not now when he is slowly accepting the truth that he is emotionally attracted to Gulf.

He is still not sure what's going to happen next but he got nothing to do but to enjoy the new feeling as it is not stopping no matter how hard he try.

"Now?" Gulf asked while his heart beats faster that normal. The thought of him being with Mew alone is making him excited and nervous at the same time.

"Hmm. Let's go?"

Mew said, keeping his cool. He walked first to not let Gulf walk beside him because he was afraid that Gulf would hear his heartbeat and notice his uneasiness.

"Do you know why he wants to see us?" Gulf asked when he can't stand the uncomfortable silence between them. He wanted to walk beside Mew but he wants to look at Mew's back more at this close.

"I don't know." Mew almost stuttered when he heard Gulf's voice so close to him.

He increases his speed to be at Mr. Castro's office immediately because he is already having a hard time controlling himself not to touch Gulf's hand with his and feel its warmth.

A few minutes of walking, they already arrived at their adviser's office which is Mr. Castro.

"I wanted to see you two to tell you that, the two of you are the candidates for the top student in my advisory class. I want you to do your best for the final exam tomorrow, but please don't do anything bad to be the top, okay?" Mr. Castro said while smiling at the two to give them encouragement.

Mew and Gulf can't hide their happiness after they heard it and their smiles eventually turned into a slight smirk as they both thought of a different 'Top'.

They both looked at each other without them noticing but quickly diverted their gazes as they got shy from what they are thinking.

Shit Gulf! What are you thinking?!
Come on Mew! Stop being naughty!

"What can you say?" Mr. Castro asked when the two didn't respond.

"I'll do my best sir, I can't just let other man steal my title." Mew said while wearing a fake smirk towards Gulf.

He is being competitive now that he thought about the other meaning of 'top'. But he prefers to be that another kind of 'top'.

"I'll do what I can do, sir. I'll try to top this man." Gulf said without realizing what he said.

Mew got shocked from what he heard but still acted normal as it looks that Mr. Castro didn't notice it.

So, he wants to top me huh.  He thought while mentally chuckling.

Gulf bitted his lower lip as he realized what he just said. He mentally scolded himself and quickly looked at Mew who seems to not noticing anything. So he acted like nothing's bothering him.

But at the back of his head, part of what he said is true. He wants to top Mew on the other way, not in the ranking.

Right after their talk with Mr. Castro, the two immediately went out of the office and walked to their classroom side by side.

But Mew is the only one walking with confidence because Gulf is walking like he wants the ground to just eat him. He is now completely distracted from what he said a while ago.

"Why so silent, Mr. I'll try to top this man?" Mew playfully asked while wearing a mocking smile.

"Shut up Mew!" Gulf said and showed his middle finger up while glaring at Mew. His facial expression shows that he is totally pissed off but inside, his heart is thumping so hard and fast that's making his forehead and hands sweat. His face is getting red and his hands are slightly shaking because of the nervousness.

Afraid of Mew noticing what's happening to him, he sped his walk and go straight to their classroom without looking back.

At Gulf's house, he is laying on his bed while thinking about what happened awhile ago and his conversation with Mew.

He didn't notice it Gulf. He is only thinking of the top rank, not that 'top' that you are thinking!

A few minutes had passed and he still convincing himself that Mew is not thinking the way he think.

Rolling on his bed while hitting his pillow, it seems he can't sleep because of what happened. So he just read and study his notes, so he will succeed on 'toping' Mew.

While on Mew's room, the guy looks like he has a tickling device on his body because his smile is not fading ever since his conversation with Gulf.

He happily closed his notes looking confident to pass the exam. He went to his bed and closed his eyes with happiness because of Gulf.
