"But I wanna stay," Lizzie argued. It was late at night and most of the team left except for Jay, Vanessa, Lizzie, and Kevin. "Lizzie, it's late and you gotta go to school tomorrow," Vanessa argued back, but Lizzie gave Vanessa a pleading look. "No, I'm not falling for that again. You already got me once," Vanessa says. Lizzie playfully shakes her head and rolls her eyes, "Fine," she says as she gets her things. "Wait," Lizzie says a little bit too loud, realizing something as she turns to face Vanessa and says, "I can't go to school looking like this." Lizzie gave Vanessa a horrified look, Vanessa just shook her head and placed one arm around Lizzie as she guided her out of Hailey's room with Lizzie still pleading her case on how she shouldn't go to school. "Bye, Jay. Take care of her," Lizzie says right before she exits the room and continues arguing, with Kevin following behind them.

Jay was sitting on a chair beside Hailey's bed side, he was relieved that Hailey was going to be alright. As he watches her chest rise and fall as she breathes, he saw how calm she looks and— Jay suddenly snapped out of his thoughts, he was so busy being happy and relieved with the rest of his team a while ago that he just now realized that this might be his fault after all, she was in pain, she was kidnapped and shot at, she was like this because of him. Even before this happened she always picked up all of his broken pieces, she protected him even though he didn't listen to her, he should've listened to her.

Jay looks at Hailey with so much regret in his eyes as he softly holds her hand, and says, "I'm sorry, Hailey. I should've been a better partner, I should've protected you from him. I'm sorry, Hailey," Jay says to a sleeping Hailey, as he lowered his head and continues, "You've been there for me every step of the way while I was wandering off doing the wrong things and I was supposed to be there for my partner, I was supposed to be there for you too, but I was so busy doing stupid things, I was too busy thinking about other things instead of focusing on you, instead of being there for you. I know I don't deserve you, but I care about you and I—," Jay stops as he just realized what he was about said, but before he could think or do anything else, he felt Hailey's hand lightly squeeze his, and then it slowly travelled up to the side of his face. Hailey's touch was soft on Jay's face, it slowly made his regrets and worries fade away.

After Hailey wiped Jay's tears, her hand travelled to Jay's chin, she slowly moved his head up to make him look her in the eyes, "Hey," Hailey says in a weak voice as she continued to caress Jay's cheeks with her thumb. Jay's eyes were wet from his tears, he didn't even know that he was crying while saying all those things then he saw Hailey's smile as he felt her hand slowly caressing the back of his neck. "Hailey," Jay started but Hailey interrupts him by saying, "Jay." Hailey's eyes were saying so many things, but Jay could see that she heard every word he said, he knew she knew what he was about to say, so he tried playing it cool.

Jay looks at her with confusion trying to avoid what he just said, and about to say, but then he realized that avoiding this feeling won't change the way he felt about her, he also remembered what Erin said to him before she left, which made him look at Hailey in the eyes with so much certainty. The look Jay saw on Hailey's eyes gave him so much more confidence and reassurance, he didn't know if Hailey intended him to feel this way but it was what he was feeling, "Hailey," Jay started saying with Hailey looking into his eyes. They were back to their moment, the moment from the hospital, parking lot, and the warehouse, there was nothing stopping them. Jay was looking into Hailey's eyes with so much certainty as he finally says, "I love you, Hailey." Hailey smiled at Jay weakly, since she just got out of surgery but her eyes told him what her reply was even before she said it, and she finally says, "I love you too, Jay."
