~The Next Day~
The kitchen was silent and empty with the exception of me humming happy birthday to myself as I poured milk into a bowl of cereal and pondered over the strange dream I had 'Why am I having so many weird dreams? They're all disturbing yet...it's always about a beast' Having strange dreams is normal, I knew that, but something about the ones I've been having were just, odd.
They were all just so...real and creepy.
I had just put the milk up when Mom walked in with her purse in hand, the one that she never let me touch for unknown reasons "I'm going out to run a few errands, I'll be back in a few hours, Don't go anywhere and don't make a mess" her voice was stern as she walked past me without even giving me a glance.
'Ouch'
I looked down at my cereal with a frown and slumped shoulders 'She either forgot again...or just didn't care enough to say it' I grabbed my bowl of cereal and walked up the stairs to my room.
'I guess her streak of not caring about my birthday continues'
While both lost in thought and in mid bite of eating a spoonful of cereal, I wasn't paying any attention on where the next step was which resulted in my foot missing the step entirely and making me stumble back.
'Oh sh-' my body instinctively tensed up with fear as I tipped over backwards with a terrified yelp and instantly felt gravity do it's job as I began to tumble down the stairs.
In mid fall I had let go of my bowl of cereal and futilely tried to grab onto the banister of the stairs to try and stop myself from falling but it only resulted in cereal flying everywhere while my hands grasped at nothing.
'Well that's great, now I'm gonna fall AND be sticky'
I groaned in pain when my elbow hit the banister roughly and stiffened even more when I saw the blur of steps dangerously close to making contact with my head, the edge of a step growing closer and closer while I was helpless to stop it.
I squeezed my eyes shut, waiting for the inevitable-
CRACK!
My eyes shot open in shock as I felt no pain, from what I could see and feel I wasn't even on the floor heck I was looking at the floor, it was as if time had stopped right before I hit the ground.
'That sound must've been the bowl but...'
My relief slowly dwindled into disbelief and fear when I registered a large hand with what felt like long skinny fingers gripping my shirt from the back was pulling me back up; making my heart stop once again and the moment I regained my balance, I looked behind me and felt all my hair stand on end.
'There's no one there...'
Immediately my survival instincts finally kicked in and I ignored the shattered shards of the bowl and ran to my room while my heart felt like it was going to beat out of my chest.
'What was that?! It felt like someone put their hand on my back and pushed me back'
I slammed my door shut and locked it which was breaking a rule, I was only allowed to lock my door when changing my clothes 'Man, breaking two rules, two days in a row, at this rate I'm going to break my record of breaking three in a day' feeling eyes on me, I glanced back at my closet and swore I saw a flash of yellow peak from between the crack in the doors.
'Did it? Did it follow me in here?!'
I stared at my closet with goosebumps littered all over my body as my hands trembled at my sides 'What was that?' I could feel my heart racing and I was freezing, it was a type of cold that shocks you and makes you gasp for air but I couldn't do anything, it was like my body was frozen in place.
