*The next day*

"Rock, paper, scissors, shoot!" I looked down at our hands and saw my hand in the form of scissors and Tanner's in a rock 'Of course' I threw him a suspicious look when he won.

'Yet again'

Tanner and I had been playing Rock Paper Scissors for the majority of our morning sadly with him in the lead with more wins.

"Aw come on! You have to be cheating" he snorted "It's Rock, Paper, Scissors, how can you cheat?!" I shrugged and looked away from him with my arms crossed "I don't know, you tell me" he shook his head, still chuckling.

He was about to say something when the sound of a door creaking open caught our attention and a smile worked it's way on my face when I saw the kind nurse walk in "Hey guys, sorry to barge in but I have some good news for the both of you" she said with a smile making me sit up, eager to know the good news "Tanner, you will be going home today, your Dad is already waiting for you in the lobby" Tanner whooped and threw his fist up in the air with a big smile.

"Alright roomie, I will be taking my leave now, however" he narrowed his eyes at me and pointed a finger in my direction, making me quirk a brow at him "I fully expect a text or a phone call soon and I hope you make a speedy recovery" I chuckled at him and sent him a wave goodbye "Goodbye Tanner, I'll talk to you later" he kept his finger pointed at me and narrowed his eyes even more.

"You better" I chuckled "Oh don't worry, I have a feeling you'll be around to annoy me for a while" I teased, making him throw his head back with a laugh "Oh for sure, you can't get rid me that easily" I watched him with a small smile as he walked out the door and I turned my attention back to the kind nurse.

The nurse who smiled and even giggled at Tanner and I's goodbye now looked at me with a somewhat sad smile "Maria, you will also be discharged today" I grinned at the news but something felt off "Discharged? You mean I'm going home too?" I asked; hopeful that the answer would be yes.

She avoided eye contact with me which made my grin drop as nervousness kicked in "Uh, honey" she said slowly and gently, only making me more anxious "You will be leaving the hospital today but you're not exactly going home" she hadn't looked at me once since talking to me.

'...What?'

I looked at her with furrowed brows; deeply confused "What do you mean? Where else am I going?" I tried and failed at trying to keep the panic out of my voice which only made the nurse more tense.

'Calm down Maria, I'm sure it's not bad it could even be a misunderstanding'

She opened her mouth, about to say something else but was prevented from doing so when the door opened and low and behold Dr. Smiley walked in which made me sigh 'Tanner dipped just in time, some people have all the luck' my eyes narrowed at his old bed and I shook my head angrily at it.

"You lucky son of a gun" was muttered underneath my breath. What I hadn't noticed earlier was that along with him was an older woman who followed him in the room and brought in tension that you could cut with a butter knife.

When I turned to look at the pair I noticed that something about the older woman seemed vaguely familiar to me.

'Is that who I think it is?'

I took a closer look at her face and the words escaped my lips before I could stop them "Grandma?" She smiled, making small wrinkles form "Yes dear, it's me" she only looked a tad bit older then I remember her being 'I was a lot younger when I last saw her' however our reunion was cut short when Dr smiley dramatically coughed for attention.
