*Six years later*
I anxiously ran my fingers through my now messy hair; my butt going numb from sitting on the toilet seat as I waited for my alarm to go off 'I'm sure that no matter what it says, everything will be fine, right?' The last few minutes felt like they lasted for an hour.
I felt like I was going to throw up from anxiety and something...else.
I jumped when my phone screamed at me, letting me know that my timer is up and I can now look at what was causing me all this anxiety. I took in a deep breath to compose myself and slowly grabbed the stick, bracing myself for whatever the results would be.
'Two lines means pregnant and one means negative'
I slowly raised the stick closer to my face to see the results more clearly and I nearly dropped it when the results came through 'Two lines...It's two lines, I'm pregnant' I didn't realize that I was smiling until I heard the front door opening.
I scrambled to look for a place to hide the positive pregnancy test before Tanner could see it 'I want to surprise him and plus I'm just not ready for him to know just yet' I decided that under the bed would have to suffice as I was running out of time and he almost never looked underneath the bed.
'This should work long enough for me to come up with a plan on how to tell him'
I threw the test under our bed and hoped that he wouldn't notice something off with me 'Even though he always does' I could hear him hanging his keys up and I hastily tried to fix my hair from being so disheveled from running my hands in it so much.
"Hey Mars, you here?" I took in a deep breath trying to make sure that my voice would sound steady and normal "Yeah, I'm in here!" I called out and cringed when a trace of nervousness was detectable in my voice.
'Yup, he's going to know that somethings up'
I released a deep sigh and heard him walking closer to our shared room "You okay? And don't try to lie to me because you know that you're a terrible liar" I rolled my eyes at his tease.
"I know Tan, but I'm fine, I promise" thankfully I was able to get my hair to look semi decent when he walked in and began to put away some work things while eyeing me with suspicion "Are you sure?" His voice was laced with suspicion as he stared directly into my eyes, trying to get a read on me.
'Don't be obvious, don't be obvious'
I held back a gulp; nervous sweat beginning to form on my forehead "Yup, completely fine!" Again I cringed as my voice came out sounding more higher pitched then usual.
'And you blew it'
He placed a hand on his hip sassily and looked at me unconvinced. obviously not believing a single word that I was saying "Mars, I know you and you know me, I know when you're lying and you know that I know you're lying" he said matter of factly and chuckled when he saw my annoyed face.
'This is going horribly, I need to make him leave this room and change the subject'
Wanting to be as nonchalant on getting him out of the room that the pregnancy test was in I began walking out of the room and headed to the living room "I don't know what you're talking about" I said over my shoulder, making sure he was following me.
'Thankfully his urge to get answers out of me was strong enough to make him turn into my shadow'
"Oh really? So when you were sick that one Christmas and tried to hide it from me and say that you were fine so that you could go take a picture on Santa's lap but instead you decided to share your breakfast with him?" I paused and looked at him with a glare as I inwardly cringed at the memory.
