(Tanners POV)

I pace-limped back and forth; my footsteps echoed in the small and otherwise silent room with my mind split between being consumed with worry for Mars and trying to concoct a plan on how to get out of here. the last thing I remembered before being knocked out and brought here was trying to warn Mars about the guy behind her.

'I hope she's okay...wherever she is'

However I wasn't alone and I was stuck with the person I least expected: Katherine.

Yup, Mars's Mom.

We were both stuck in this dim room with a creepy old worn out door that had old white paint chipping away. While I was still trying to brainstorm, Katherine was sitting on the floor with her back to the wall and looking like she had already given up.

"Do you know any exits of this place? Emergency exits? Anything?" I stopped in front of her and waited for an answer before realizing that she was...not right.

"Katherine? Hey are you okay?" I crouched down to her and reached out a hand to check on her but flinched and nearly fell to the floor when she started screaming and crying when I got close to her.

'What did they do to her?'

"Hey, hey hey it's okay I'm not going to hurt you, I'm Tanner, your daughters...friend" she thankfully calmed down but she was still looking at me with a guarded look on her face "Tanner? I don't know any Tanner, how old are you?" She glared at me making me gulp.

She shared the same piercing glare that Maria has.

"I'm sixteen years old, I met Mars in the hospital after...the fire happened" I was reluctant to talk about the fire, not sure if it would cause a trigger.

She let out a tired sigh and let her head rest on the wall; looking up at the celling blankly "The fire..." she closed her eyes and continued "That old hag had me put in here, convinced them that I was insane and an unfit Mother" she scoffed as her face scrunched up in anger.

I looked down; not knowing what to say before something pops up in my mind and I looked at her sheepishly "If you don't mind me asking where are we exactly?" She huffed air out of her nose in a defeated laugh.

"I'm guessing that they didn't tell you where we are huh? I don't know exactly where we are, but I know that this place, although looks like one, isn't even a real asylum, one of Josh's ancestors had this place built a long time ago as a safe house of sorts, at least, that's what I've been told anyway"

She had a faraway look in her eyes as she spoke "After Maria visited me they had me put in here, nobody batted an eye when the hag and 'Doctor' suggested that I go here, even when this place has supposedly been abandoned for years" she chuckled bitterly with her eyebrow slightly twitching in anger.

I looked at her with furrowed brows "The old hag? You mean Mars's Grandma?" She nodded; looking both angry and upset with her mouth quivering "Yeah, she's a crazy old hag but she's smart and has connections, I tried to leave but as you can see, that didn't turn out well"

My heart ached for her 'This must have been so frustrating for her' when she finally opened her eyes again and looked directly at me the resemblance between her and Mars was uncanny.

'Their definitely Mother and Daughter alright'

"How is Mari? Does she still think the old hag is innocent?" Her tone was bitter when she mentioned Ole Gran Gran and rightfully so. I immediately shook my head "Oh no, after talking with you at the hospital there was a huge fight between them" She let out a tired sigh.
