Right after Evie said that, the lights shut off and darkness overtook the room, I could hear my heart beating in my chest as a silence so suffocating set my nerves in overdrive.

'Where is it? Where did she go?'

I whipped my head back to look at where she once was and clenched my fists at my sides when only darkness greeted me.

"Evie! Where are you?! I know that you're here somewhere!" I called out to the monster that sent me here, my voice echoing throughout the room.

'Where is she?'

Unfortunately I didn't see the pair of glowing golden eyes that watched me with a predatory gaze so I was unprepared when I felt a clawed hand reach out and grab my shoulder; making me let out a shrill scream and instinctively sent out a punch with my fist going straight between the glowing eyes but instead of hitting my target, my hand went through it.

It was as if she wasn't even there.

My eyes widened in shock as I stared at my fist 'You can't directly hit her?!' Since her eyes glowed so brightly I could see some of her features; from up close, I could see that her mouth was formed into a snarl that emitted a low growl that was directed at me, making me gulp and try to think of a solution to this.

'But how am I supposed to beat her if I can't hit her?'

I took a slow step back from her 'My best chance at this is to keep distance between us while I think of what to do' but another problem quickly made itself known when she blinked, making herself disappear altogether.

'You mean to tell me that all she has to do is blink?! That's not fair'

I huffed at the unfair situation. I could tell that with every step away I took into getting away from her, she would take two more closer to me 'No one told me anything of this! So thanks a lot book' I thought bitterly.

"Let's keep this fair and don't blink okay?" I only received silence in return 'At least I tried' I stiffened in surprise when I backed into something hard.

'What is that? Is that a wall? does that mean I'm in a legit place or am I still in my mind?'

I tried to run to the side but only ended up hitting another wall 'Is the room slowly getting smaller?!' Once again I tried running to the other side but got the same results as before and since I couldn't go anywhere; I backed up and braced my back on the wall, facing Evie head on.

'At least she can't get sneak up on me from behind again'

I could hear her as she slowly walked closer to me and I took in a deep, shuddering, breath before smiling, surely confusing her.

'Even though I can't hurt you physically I can try this' without a second to spare I thrust my right hand up to her snarling face; a bottle of trusty pepper spray in my grasp with my bloody finger pressed down on the little trigger that unleashed a torrent of pain in her eyes; making her screech and claw at her face.

I was shocked that it worked but smiled nonetheless, triumph at somehow hurting her 'Can't ever go wrong with pepper spray' I kept the bottle up at her face, threatening to spray her again if she did anything suspicious or threatening.

'I am SO glad that I made sure to never be without pepper spray since the alleyway'

However she was much faster then she previously let on and she hissed as she slapped my hand; effectively knocking the pepper spray from my grasp and I let out a loud cry when she scratched me from my forearm down to my hand with her sharp claws and instinctively brought my injured hand close to my shuddering body, barely containing my sobs. my arm was shaking from the pain of the deep scratch and I could feel blood already dripping from my hand and puddling on the ground.
