She smirked at me with her arms crossed "In the flesh" was her smug answer 'I had a feeling it was her but still, it doesn't make it any easier' she strutted closer to me; her heels clinked against the floor as she did.
"Now you're probably wondering why I went through all this trouble, but the answer is simple, I want what you have" my brows furrowed in confusion and my mind was running a mile a minute as I tried to think of what she could possibly want from me.
But not a single thing popped up in my mind.
I was utterly clueless at what she could want "All of this is because you want something from me?" She sighed dramatically and rolled her eyes "Oh please, it's much more then that, Evie is what I want and we made a deal that if you were to live with me then I get protected and have control over her" my heart dropped as realization dawned on me along with hurt.
'I was used'
She barked out a harsh laugh at the hurt look on my face "Did you really think that I would invite a practical stranger to live with me in my house? Once I saw the chance at easier access to her, I took it, you were just the nuisance that came along with her" My jaw clenched at her words but I still had just one question.
"Who's Evie?" Right after I asked that something in her changed, it was almost as if she somehow got even more...evil and sinister, her eyes were practically gleaming with evilness.
"She's the very thing that you fear, a monster, demon, killer, even a servant if you wish, the 'monster' that keeps making you hallucinate" It felt like my breath was sucked out of my body at her words.
"What?" My voice was so breathy that you could barely even hear it "I don't understand" I couldn't believe what I was hearing 'And she wants the monster?' She tsked at me and walked small deliberate steps to me.
Her smugness was nauseating.
"You heard me, what? You don't remember your childhood friend? Aw that's so sad, Evie will be so heartbroken" she fake pouted at me and tilted her head in mock sadness.
My brows furrowed "Childhood friend? Evie? But Evie wasn't real she was just my imaginary friend" she uncrossed her arms and placed them on her hips "Evie was not just your 'imaginary' friend she is more of a protector...or a servant" my head felt like it was about to explode from what she was telling me.
'That can't be true can it?'
My life had taken a sudden and drastic turn in what? A few months? "The monster is Evie? But how?" None of what she was telling me was making any sense to me.
'There's no way, I mean my imaginary friend being a monster? Right'
"Believe it or not honey I'm telling the truth" I could barely make sense of anything, Grandma's dramatic turn, the fact that Evie is real and is supposedly the monster that keeps trying to kill me.
"This can't be real, you have to be lying, there is no way that you could be telling the truth, I mean Evie is an imaginary friend she can't be real" my words were frantic and rushed 'But why would she lie now?' But It was so hard to believe anything she said after all of what she put me and everyone I love through.
Her whole being practically emitted smugness as her eyes gleamed with mania "Of course I'm not lying, what I've said is all true, I even had your father fooled into thinking that I had your best interest in mind, but your mother on the other hand never fell for it, I've always hated that woman" I could see the hatred in her eyes as she talked about Mom.
