Virgil sighed, and put his phone down. It was late, and he was hungry. He could faintly feel his fangs throbbing slightly in pain. He hadn't bitten into anything for days, and he was starting to feel it. It wasn't as if he minded the pain. He actually liked it. It made him feel just a little alive. But he knew that he needed to sink his teeth into something soon, or else he would pay for not doing so.
So, he stood up, and put on his headphones. He plugged them into his phone, and began to play his playlist. The familiar sound of Iron Maiden's Run To The Hills began to play, and he smiled just a little. He slipped on his shoes, and exited the apartment he had been living in for some of the last forty years.
He looked up at the moon and stars, admiring them for a moment, before he turned his gaze back to the street. There weren't many people outside at that time, but for him, it was late in the morning, and not late in the evening. So, that would explain it.
He let his feet lead the way, as they knew where he was going, and closed his eyes, letting his mind drown in the loud sounds of drums and rock guitar. He opened his eyes soon enough, and ran a hand through his pale purple hair. He went off the sidewalk, and into the shadows of the trees that were beside him instead of tall buildings now.
Virgil stopped his music, and slipped his headphones around his neck, wandering into the dark forest. He could see easily, as his sight was like a cat's.
He let his instincts take over, and used his nails to scratch a VRL into the nearest tree. It was easy, seeing as he always filed his nails so that they looked like claws, and were very sharp. He smirked slightly at the sight of the marks in the tree, and began walking slowly through the forest, barely making any sound. He listened for any sounds of possible prey.
When he finally heard something, it was a deer. He followed the sounds, and soon saw it. It was a female, and she was stranded on one of those small dry islands in swamps, with what looked like a broken leg. Virgil couldn't help but feel bad for her, and decided to take mercy on her. She would either die of starvation, or be killed by a predator soon enough, so it would be much more painless for her if he killed her.
He sighed, and took a few steps back. He took his hands out of his pockets, and began running towards the water and soft spaces. When he was close, he jumped, and somehow managed to land in front of the deer, who tried her best to back away from him.
He sighed, and kneeled down beside her, and softly rubbed her fur, trying to calm her down. "Hey girl, shhh, I'm here. I know you're scared, and hurting, but this'll help, I promise. It won't hurt much, I promise..." He mumbled, before he stopped. "I'm talking to a deer. This is stupid." He mumbled again, but upon seeing that she had calmed down a little, he leaned down, and placed himself right over a vein on her neck.
The deer seemed to accept her fate, as she didn't try to move out of his grasp. He buried his fangs deep into her neck, and began to suck. She twitched, before she fell limp, indicating that she was either dead or unconscious. Virgil kept on draining her for blood, but stopped when he heard someone coming out of the bushes surrounding the small island.
He took his bloody fangs out of the neck of the deer, and looked up to see a man. He had caramel hair, which was slightly long, and pushed back. His eyes were determined, and one was light green, while the other was a darker green. Virgil took notice of that, since he had heterochromia as well. He was definitely a vampire hunter, since he had a belt with silver bullets, and a gun that seemed to use that kind of bullets. And there was also hanging a silver crucifix around his neck, which was covered by a cloth. In his belt, there was even hanging garlic.
Virgil snickered at the sight of him, and stood up, letting the limp body of the deer fall to the ground. "Well well well, what do we have here? Another puny human wanting to try and kill me for a second time?" He mocked, making the man harden his eyes. "You are trapped, vampire. You either surrender or die." This made Virgil laugh. Did they really think they had him cornered?
