(Friendly reminder that Brutus p̶r̶o̶b̶a̶b̶l̶y̶ babysat Cordelia at one point.)
Brutus sighed as he sat down in the chair, I the guest room. He was going to tell Roman everything he wanted to know, but some things weren't his story to tell, and he hoped that Roman respected that.
The deep red suit seemed to fit Roman, even if it clearly wasn't his style. He had given up on wearing a tie, and now it was hanging untied around his neck, in a manner that Brutus noted, would make it extremely easy to choke him, if someone wanted to. Not that he did.
Roman looked expectantly at Brutus, as if he knew precisely what questions he needed to answer, which he did not. Roman sighed, and asked the first question using words now. "Alright, so why is Adolpha in the attic of all places?"
Brutus thought about it for a moment. "Well, the attic is where the magic that keeps the ghosts visible is strongest, which also means that if she leaves, she won't be seen, or heard. We are still working on finding a solution for that." He answered, saying what he could, without spilling any of Virgil's secrets.
Roman nodded, and asked his next question. "How is she here? She looks like she died in the BCs." Brutus sighed. That was one of the questions he couldn't really answer without saying too much about Virgil. "My Lord tried to resurrect her in the fourteenth century, but it wasn't successful, as he only managed to bind her spirit to a necklace, which is currently in the attic." In reality, there was much more to the story, but that was all Brutus felt like he could say.
Roman tilted his head a bit. "Then why can't Virgil just wear the necklace then? It would give her the ability to move around." Brutus sighed again, not wanting to betray his Lord's trust by giving Roman too much information about him.
"My Lord tried that, but the bearer of the necklace is possessed by the spirit of Adolpha." He answered, not giving any examples. Roman blinked, obviously not expecting that answer. "Yeah, that makes sense, then." He commented.
"Who are the others?" Was Roman's next question, and Brutus sighed. That was the questions that he had been dreading. "That is not something I believe I should answer." He said, making sure to stay polite. Roman raised an eyebrow. "Why?" "Because my Lord would most likely want it to stay secret, and I will not betray his trust."
Roman nodded in understanding, even though he let out a sigh of disappointment, and even though Brutus had earned a bit of a friendship with Roman, he was not ashamed to say that it was slightly childish, quite frankly.
"Do you have any more questions?" Brutus asking. He would gladly answer those he could, without violating Virgil's privacy. But Roman shook his head, and Brutus nodded. "Alright. Do you wish for a brush for your hair?" He asked, taking note of how messy it was.
Roman eagerly nodded, and once more looked amazed when Brutus used his sparse magic, and conjured a hairbrush, which he handed to Roman. The young man gladly took it, and began to brush his hair, which was wavy, when it wasn't ruffled.
Brutus glanced at his watch, and stood up, which lead to Roman glancing curiously at him. "It is time for us to go now, Young One." Brutus said, and Roman nodded, standing up as well. Brutus sighed at the state of his tie, and quickly fixed it.
He could tolerate a lot of things, but not wearing clothes properly had a tendency to annoy him. He had always been very fashion oriented, after all. He lead Roman out of the guest room, and towards Virgil's, through the small labyrinth called the Maro Mansion.
Just as they arrived, Virgil stepped out of the room, a dragon on either side of him. Out of the corner of his eye, Brutus spotted Roman blushing slightly, and when he looked back at his Lord, he saw him winking at Roman, which lead him to grow redder. Brutus wanted to sigh at their behavior.
Virgil was, of course, acting like he always did when someone new gained his interest. The playful flirting was the same, and everything else, but Roman did not at all seem accustomed to being flirted with, much less by Virgil, who knew all the tricks in the book, and all the cheesy pick up lines one could think of. Not that he ever used them. He still had some dignity left.
Virgil brushed off his clothes, since a few small feathers had gotten stuck on them, and then put his hands in his pockets. "Well then, let's go. And Roman, no mentions of God." He warned, and Roman looked rather confused, but nodded anyways.
Virgil nodded too, and began walking to the garage, with Roman beside him. They seemed to be making up, after their small fight, but Brutus didn't listen to it. He was wondering how they would get the dragons into the car, but then remembered the charms that Cordelia had cast on it as a gift some time ago, and was relieved, since that meant no one would be squished inside the car.
On the way to the car, Brutus' Basilisk, Hera, joined them. She had just gotten back from hunting, and was in her small form. As a magical creature, she could change size, like Virgil's dragons, and Chie. She let Brutus pick her up, and wrapped herself around his neck, like a deep green scarf, that could kill way too easily.
The three humans, and four magical creatures, soon reached the garage, that held three cars. Two of them looked very expensive, and were Virgil's, while the third was Brutus', and looked cheap in comparison to Virgil's.
One of the cars was a deep, royal purple, and would definitely stand out on the road. It was the car that Virgil used for finer occasions, while the other was so black, that it was almost impossible to see where the car doors were, and where they weren't.
When Virgil went over to the black car, and threw a set of car keys at Brutus, who easily caught them, he knew that Virgil was not going to even try and act like he thought it was important to see Marlene.
Brutus chuckled, and went over to the black car, unlocking it, and opening the front door. He went into the car, sitting in the driver's seat, not even caring to put his seatbelt on. When he looked back into the backseat, then Virgil had already gotten everyone in, and there was more than enough space for them all.
Brutus turned on the car, and drove out of the garage, definitely going over the speed limit.
