Roman hurried back to the car, where Patton and Logan should be waiting. His mind was a mess, to say the least. They had went out to catch a vampire that they had been looking for for some time. The vampire had gotten into the trap. How did it go so wrong? Apparently, Virgil was either a big masochist, or something was wrong with the holy water. It had to be option number two, because any vampire would feel a lot of pain if they fell in holy water infested waters.
Roman sighed, and looked down at his still bleeding arm. He wondered if he should take the vampire up on his offer, and call him when he had the chance. Roman shook his head. Why was he even wondering that? He wouldn't. Vampires had taken Beatrice, and he would get his revenge soon.
Roman stopped dead in his tracks when he heard two voices that definitely didn't belong to Patton and Logan. He hid behind the nearest tree, and peeked at where they came from. It was two people. Two men, it seemed. One of them was sitting on the roof of the car, and the other was standing on the ground.
The one on the ground told the one on the roof, "Remy, come down. We're done hunting for tonight, the Boss will be chuffed with what we've gotten." The one on the ground had a strong British accent. Remy sighed dramatically, and jumped down from the car roof. "Come on, Luv. Just a little longer? The moon is beautiful tonight." He also had an accent, and this one was British too.
The other one sighed, and shook his head. "Remy, come on. We're gonna be late." He said, making Remy sigh again. "Oh well. Would you fancy a drink with Kath, Bea and I when we're done? They said they had some tea to spill." The other nodded. "Sure, Rem. Just help me with the prey."
Roman widened his eyes when he saw them open the car doors, and take Logan and Patton out of them. Both were unconscious, and didn't look like they were in good shape. Roman couldn't see much in the sparse light, but what he could see was that one of the men was wearing a leather jacket and sunglasses. He couldn't see the other one, since he was standing in the shadows.
Roman desperately wanted to help his friends, but it would be two against one, and he wasn't really in the shape to fight after what had just happened. So he was forced to sit there while Patton and Logan were dragged off by the two men.
As soon as they were gone he ran over to the car, and began looking for the keys. He soon managed to find them, thrown on the forest floor right outside of the car. He was pretty sure that Logan had dropped them.
Roman got into the car, and started it. He began to drive home, thinking about what had happened. In one evening he had lost his dignity, and his two best friends.
He began to think about how he could save his friends. He couldn't do it alone. Should he call Remus? No. He couldn't stand him and his weird boyfriend. Amari? No to that too, they were on vacation, and he didn't want to disturb them. Patton's family? Definitely not. They would freak out and make a gigantic deal out of it. Who could he call then?
He could call Virgil.
Roman rejected the idea as soon as he got it. He was a vampire, and Roman wanted nothing to do with him. And he definitely wouldn't want to tell him that his friends had been kidnapped. Besides, there was no way a random vampire would help him.
Or would he..?
Roman gritted his teeth. No he wouldn't. He was a vampire. Roman was a human. They had nothing in common, and he would never sink so low as the ask a filthy undead to help him. Why did he even get the idea to ask him in the first place?
He's a vampire. Those are strong.
Roman almost wanted to drive the car off the road and into a tree just so he didn't have any more thoughts about the vampire. He would never!
But he could help...
Shut up! Roman didn't want to ask him for help. And there was no way he ever would. And that was final.
But what if-
No buts! And no what ifs! Roman had made his decision. He pulled up into the driveway of his house, and got out of the car. He slammed the door, and made his way over to the door into the house. He unlocked the door, and walked inside, closing the door after him. He took a deep breath to try and calm down, and walked into the kitchen to get a glass of water.
In there, he almost got a heart attack.
It was Virgil. Sitting cross-legged on the kitchen counter, reading one of Roman's many musical manuscripts. Next to him was a plate of pancakes, which smelled very nice, and still looked warm and new.
Roman turned on the lights, and Virgil looked up from the manuscript. "Oh, hi. Looks like we meet again." He said with a slight smirk, and closed the manuscript, placing it beside him.
"Why are you here?" Roman asked through gritted teeth. He didn't take another step in the direction of the vampire, and stayed where he was. Virgil shrugged. "You dropped your wallet out in the forest. I saw it when you walked away, but you had already left when I noticed it. So, I decided to drop it off here to give it to you." He explained casually, and jumped down from the counter.
He walked over to Roman, who took a step back out of instinct. This only seemed to amuse then vampire, who leaned a bit into his personal space, making Roman blush a little. He cursed himself for blushing. It was a vampire that was there before him, not a human!
Virgil took Roman's hand, and pressed something into it. Roman didn't see what he was as he was a bit too busy staring into the eyes of the vampire. Those eyes were captivating and extremely beautiful. One was a light blue, and the other was a darker, almost violet, color.
Roman felt like he could stare into those eyes for an eternity. They were dragging him in, and keeping him captured in them. He got lost in the blue colours, and didn't notice that Virgil had an almost annoyed expression on his face. The only thing Roman could see was those beautiful eye-
Slap.
Roman brought a hand up to touch his cheek, which felt like it was burning. He glared angrily at Virgil. "What was that for!?" He asked, making Virgil look more annoyed. "You stared at my eyes for too long." He simply said, making Roman freeze.
The eyes of a vampire was maybe one of its best hunting methods. By looking into the eyes of a vampire, any mortal was practically doomed, since they had an almost hypnotic effect. They made the mortal unable to look away from those eyes unless somebody or something distracted them. It became harder for the mortal to snap out of it the longer they stared into the eyes of a vampire.
Virgil smirked at him again. "I made you pancakes. Do you mind if a crash here for the day? It's a long way back to my apartment, and the sun is coming up." "N-no." Roman stuttered out, making him curse himself again. Why the fuck was the letting a vampire sleep in his house!? Why did he say yes!? It made no sense!
Virgil nodded. "Thanks. Do you have guest rooms or do I need to sleep on the couch?" "We have guest rooms..." Roman said, this time without stuttering, which he was slightly proud of.
Virgil nodded again. "I'll find them myself. Enjoy your pancakes, and don't disturb my sleep." He said, walking out of the kitchen to find the guest rooms.
In the kitchen, Roman was left confused, scared, tired and hungry. Since and since Roman was hungry, he took a plate from the cabinet, and took a pancake, which he began to eat after putting syrup on it.
When Roman was done eating pancakes, he put the remaining ones in the fridge, and began to make his way to his room. He passed the guest bedroom on his way to his room, and was tempted to take a look inside. But then he remembered Virgil's warning, and decided not to. Who knew what a two thousand years old vampire could do?
Roman soon entered his bedroom. He took off his clothes, which were dirty from the night's work, and changed into his pajamas, which was a loose red shirt with a yellow crown on it, and sweatpants.
He walked over to his bed, and slid under the covers, laying his head on his soft pillows. He thought one last thought before he fell asleep.
"Did I befriend a vampire...?"
