Roman sighed as he curled further into himself on the bed. He was still angry, but that was now mixed with a certain feeling of hopelessness. Why couldn't Virgil just have told him? Didn't it matter that Roman liked his free will? He didn't ask to be enslaved by a vampire!

A knock on the door was heard, and Roman bit back a groan. "Go away!" He ordered, even though he really needed to talk to somebody, he didn't want to see Virgil again, and he could only assume that it was him, trying to apologize again.

But, it wasn't Virgil. It was Brutus. His voice was much deeper, and more serious than Virgil's usually was. "Young one, I have come with a change of clothes, and some food, and drinks for you. I can imagine that you must be starving, currently."

Roman thought about it, but he really was hungry, and some new clothes would be nice, even if they probably came from Virgil. He made his decision, and got off the bed, and walked over to the door.

He turned the key, and opened it, to reveal Brutus. He wasn't looking as relaxed as before, and actually seemed concerned, but it was a bit hard to tell with certainty.

Roman took a step back, silently inviting Brutus in. The ancient vanpire accepted the invitation, and stepped inside Roman's room.

Roman closed the door, locking it again. Brutus handed him the food and water, and he walked over to the bed to sit down and eat. Brutus watched him, with almost envy on his face, but again, Roman couldn't be sure.

Brutus sighed, and sat down beside Roman. "My Lord is worried about you." He said, and Roman's eyes hardened. He should have known that he had just come to try and talk Virgil out of the trouble he had landed himself in.

Roman shrugged. "I'm not worried about him." He said, taking a bite of the absolutely delicious sandwich. Brutus nodded. "I see. You're mad about the resistance thing?" It was phrased like a question, so Roman nodded. "I am."

Brutus nodded again, taking in the information. "It would still be practically impossible for you to not follow orders even if you weren't claimed." He shared, and Roman perked up slightly. "Really? How?"

Brutus chuckled softly. The curiousity of humans would always amuse him. "Well, while there is a chance you could resist the order of a Noble, you would always have a hard time with the higher classes. And it is impossible for practically any living creature to not follow orders, when a vampire Royal is giving them."

Roman thought about it. He could assume that Virgil was a Royal then, since Reana, or what ever her name was, had called him "your majesty". "Is Virgil a Royal?" He decided to ask, to which Brutus nodded. "Yes. He is."

Roman widened his eyes slightly at that new piece of information. There was a lot that he had to learn about vampires, apparently. He took a deep breath, and decided to change the subject. "What are my side effects?" Brutus thought about it for a moment.

"I have rarely been very present or close with any of Virgil's Claimed, but I knew one. Her name was Crystill. She was human, but very respected by the vampires for her intelligence and beauty." Roman looked down at his plate, focusing on the sight of a tomato, rather than his small amount of jealousy. Oh well, she was most likely dead anyways.

"From what I observed, she was stronger, faster and more agile than any human, but he skin was also pale. It wasn't as pale as the skin of a vampire, but pale by human standard. Her diet mostly consisted of meat, and she could drink blood instead of water, or wine. Now, you need to know, that she drank a whole cup of vampire blood, which lead her to be a bit more vampire than human." Roman nodded, taking note of that.

Brutus kept on explaining. "She was not one of the first ever Claimed by Royals, but one of the most memorable. Since she could use her voice to give orders, the same way a Noble could. Not with the same strength, but usually enough to convince whoever she was ordering that what she said was a good idea, and should be done." Roman widened his eyes a bit. That sounded like a pretty powerful thing to be able to do.

He then thought about it. With how much blood he had drunk, what would he be able to do? He decided to ask, and the answer he received was, "I am not sure. As I said, I have rarely been close to any Queens, as we call the Claimed of a Royal. No matter their gender, but also only if they are romantically involved with the Royal. But, we could test it out."

Roman cocked his head to the side, a thing he sometimes did when he was curious, or wondering something. "How, though?" Brutus chuckled. "I am in the Following of the Royal you are claimed by, I should be easier to order than anyone else." Roman widened his eyes a bit. With how nice Brutus had been to him, he didn't want to give him an order, that he maybe didn't want to follow.

Brutus chuckled again, as if he had read Roman's thoughts. "Oh, do not fret. I will be fine." He reassured him, and Roman took a deep breath. "Alright. How do I do it?"

Brutus shrugged. "That, I do not know. From what I do understand, however, you are to focus on getting your message across, and understood by the one you want to order. You also need to add some of your power to your voice, to at least sound intimidating, so that if it does not work, you might get a reaction anyways." He explained, and Roman snickered. For someone not knowing, he knew an awful lot.

Roman took a deep breath, and closed his eyes, opening them after a moment. For a short part of a second, Brutus could have sworn he saw a faint red glow coming from Roman's eyes. But again, it was hard to tell when he was wearing sunglasses.

"Go over to the corner." He said, power shifting in and out of his words, like he was trying to grab something slippery, but it kept on slipping away from him. But, , Brutus had a strange urge to follow his orders, even if it wasn't strong. And he knew that wasn't his own urge. He grinned at Roman, and this time, he was sure that the red glow wasn't his imagination.

"Amazing! It's quite impressive you managed that, when it's your first time, and you're just a human." Roman smiled at the words. He really hadn't expected it to go that well. "Can I try again?" Brutus nodded. "As many times as you wish to try."

The two spent the next twenty minutes, with Roman just practicing his Noble Voice, as he had decided to call it for the time being. "Go to the corner." He said again, and this time, Brutus stood up. He didn't follow orders completely, but it made Roman feel very proud of himself.

His thoughts had began to drift back to Virgil, but he kept them away from that. Who cared if he was a king or something? He still needed to tell someone all the risks of something, before they do it. It was simply bad manners.

He locked the Virgil thoughts away, and continued to try and control his Noble Voice thing.

Quick A/N!: I'm really sorry for how long it took for this to come out, but I really like the outcome! Hopefully I'll be back in my streak of writing one chapter per day when I get home to my computer, but I can't guarantee anything!
