A/N Yeah! I finished the chapter and published it like I promised. I hope you enjoy the chapter, I know it was a long wait so I hope it was worth it.
Ben's POV
"Ben, wake up"
I groaned, slowly opening my eyes to a concerned Mal.
"What time is it?" I asked, yawning as I sat up confused to why she was the one waking me up.
I immediately noticed how uncomfortable she was.
"Mal? What's wrong?" I asked, worried.
I gripped her hands as she sighed.
"The head guard woke me up" Mal started "He said two people were found murdered last night on the Isle...right next to them plans to attack Auradon"
I widen my eyes in shock.
So last night wasn't a dream then?
"Plan to...attack Auradon?" I asked "Do they know who did this?"
Mal shook her head.
"There isn't any cameras on the Isle like Auradon" Mal said "And no witnesses either"
I sighed, letting go of Mal's hands to rub my forehead as a headache came.
"Get some guards to investigate to see if they can find anything out" I ordered, noticing Gaurds are standing behind Mal "And make sure the public doesn't find out, we don't want them to panic"
'Or for people to find out' the voice said in my head, making me almost sigh out loud.
The guards bowed and then left Mal and I alone in the bedroom, the sun shining in our room as it rose.
"Do you think it's a fluke Ben?" Mal asked, worried "What if it's my mother"
I looked Mal in the eye, moving the bit of hair in front of her face behind her ear. She looked back at me, with a slight surprise.
"Your mother would directly harm us, would she not?" Ben asked "And the main detail here is that the people who died had plans to take down Auradon, so the person who murdered them knew about this"
Mal sighed, clearly stressed.
"I don't know how to feel about this" she admitted "I mean, the person might have just saved a potential attack on Auradon but they murdered to stop it"
'See? Even your wife agrees' the voice said.
I immediately grabbed Mal, so she wouldn't see my guilt-driven face.
"I just hope it doesn't happen again" Mal whispered, making me grip her tighter.
I am just as confused as she is.
Everything from last night was coming back to me, and how I...m-murdered those people.
Did they deserve it?
I could've locked them up and pretended I found out, rather than killing them.
They could have had a second chance.
'That second chance could have cost lives Ben' the voice stated seriously 'That seconds chance could have ruined Auradon...could have harmed your friends. Do not fell guilty, you stop something bad from happening to Auradon before it even begun, aren't you happy about that?'
I sighed, not sure what to believe.
I admit it did make me feel a bit better, but the shocks on the faces of the people I killed without a second thought.
