For some reason, Nini couldn't handle all the stares today. Even if she was looking down, she could feel the eyes of people on her. Even if she had her headphones on, she could still hear people whispering about her. Today, she felt more weak than ever. Usually, she doesn't care and her confidence is something to admire. She didn't know why this hit her that hard. It's been weeks since she cried at school. Maybe because this time she knew it was completely false, she wasn't even at the party. Usually she is not doing what they think she does, but it's been weeks since she had been to a party. Madison told her that maybe she liked the attention and being named in everyone'slips. Why am I friends with her again? She asked herself. Right, without her I only have Kourtney and I don't have the privilege to unfriend her. If Madison and her had a fight, she knew her whole situation would break her. Madison had power over her, that's why she is still friends with Nini. Lunch time arrived and as always Nini sat down in between her only two friends. They shared the table with Madison's friends. They were popular, they were right below the cheerleaders. When Nini was there, they didn't talk about her or with her. She was almost invisible, if it wasn't for Kourtney. People always say that high school is the best part of our lives. Thinking that this was the best part scared the hell out of her. She kept playing with her fries until she looked across the cafeteria and found a curly hair boy rolling his eyes at his friends. He has nice eyes. He's cute, she didn't realize it until now. She shook her head trying to repress that thought. She couldn't allow herself to like someone, not even have a crush. Her mind was a mess but when that boy looked right at her and they looked eyes, her mind stopped, and she felt peace. She smiled at him, as a thank you. He smiled back and scrunched his nose. She let a small laugh that Kourtney heard.
"What are you smiling at?" Her friend asked her with a smirk. Nini looked at her and shook her head.
"Nothing. Nothing important, I guess." She looked at the boy again but he was already talking with his friends. Nothing important. Lunch ended and the rest of the day did too pretty much the same as how it started. Not a good day for Nina. But it didn't come as a shock. They never are.
