Jihyun

"This is the police, open up!!"

There was no sign from the inside so I must kick the door for us to break into. I straightened my arms forward while holding my gun and looked for the perp.

I saw a shadow of a man wearing a white shirt trying to run away through the window.

"He's getting away!!" I said as I chased after him. He jumped from his balcony to the lowest ground and so did I. Lucky for me he injured his ankle from the fall so I managed to catch him easily and put a handcuff on him. "Park Kihyun, you're under arrest for the murder of Park Taehyun."

My team and I finally arrived at the precinct and put the perp in the cell. I threw myself onto my chair while trying to catch some breath.

Hoseok, my no longer to be partner, approached me and took a seat on my desk. "Heard you've caught the murderer."

"Yeah, no thanks to you," I said. "I can't believe you're quitting. How am I supposed to get through the day without your happy face in front of me every day?"

He chuckled before he reached for my hand. "I'm sorry that I have to leave the force, Jihyun," he said. "I have to take care of Minjun. Her condition is worsen."

"Is she gonna be okay?"

He shrugged. "The doctors are trying their best to cure her and giving her the best treatment. Let's just think positively."

We were about to have another conversation when Taehyung, another detective in the precinct, approached me and said, "Hey, Park Kihyun's lawyer has arrived. He needs to speak with you."

I rolled my eyes, then sighed. I then turned to Hoseok and hugged him. "It was nice to have you as my partner for the last five years. You're always gonna be my hope, Hope," I said. "Give Minjun my regards. I wish her well."

"Will do. I'll see you, Jihyun," he said as we broke off the hug. I smiled to him one more time before having to deal with these pain in the ass lawyers.

After I explained the case to Park Kihyun's lawyer, I went back to my desk where this time Taehyung was sitting on.

"He's trying to bail him out?"

"Yeah, as always," I said as I threw the paperwork on my desk.

Seeing me always get annoyed every time having to deal with lawyers made him chuckle. He then reached out his hand and knowing what it meant, I put my arm on it for him to massage it.

"I can never understand what's going on inside the mind of these wealthy family members," he said while looking at the white board where I usually wrote down my investigation. "I mean, look at this, a guy actually willed to kill his own brother so that he could get all the inheritance from his father? They're insane."

"I could've made an arrest toward him much sooner but he was surprisingly hard to catch," I said. "Hey, the precinct is holding a farewell party for Jung Hoseok tonight at the bar downtown. Are you in?"

"I don't really feel like it," he said. "I'm tired and I'm not that close with that Hoseok guy anyway."

"Oh come on," I said while giving him my puppy eyes. "Come with me, will you? I'll give you Sojin's number if you come tonight."

He chuckled. "Alright, fine. You owe me her number."

---

"Thank you everyone for coming," Hoseok said. "I know that this is very sudden and that this disappoints some people, including myself. Working under Captain Kim Namjoon for the last ten years has been a great pleasure and honor for me."

I was listening to Hoseok's farewell speech when Taehyung approached me with two glasses of beer on his hands. "Here. This might cheer you up."

I took the beer and leaned closer to him until I could get my head rest on his shoulder. "I can't believe he's really leaving."

"What, you like him or something?"

I clicked my tongue. "Yah, you and your stupid mouth," I said. "I really enjoy working with him as partners. He's extremely hardworking and discipline, but is also a very cheerful guy. No matter how dark the day could be, he's not letting it ruin us mentally. Huh, what would I do without him as my partner?"

"I can ask Captain Kim to be assigned as your partner."

I scoffed. "Captain Kim is incredibly strict. There's no way he's allowing you partner up with me. He knows you're my best friend."

"You'll be surprised by how much of a charmer I am."

Just as I was about to answer him, Captain Kim, or Namjoon, approached both of us before he patted my back. "Sorry for your loss, Detective Jung."

"It's a loss for all of us, Captain," I said. "I just hope you won't assign me with a weirdo or a procrastinator for my next partner."

He smiled. "You're standing next to him now."

I raised an eyebrow as I turned to Taehyung who I think purposely looked away while drinking his beer. "You're assigning Taehyung to be my partner?"

"I can see you both have great dynamics and I'm positive it will bring  great opportunities in the future. I trust you two can work well together," he said. "I'll see you in the morning, Detective Jung and Detective Kim."

"Will do, Sir," Taehyung said with a such cheerful tone and the widest smile.

"You've already asked Captain Kim for the assignment?! B-But how?!"

He chuckled. "Let's just say that I did him a great favor."

"Taehyung, this is great!!" I exclaimed. "Best friends and police partners? We're inseparable."

He then locked my head with his armpit and messed my hair. "Looking forward to be working with you, kiddo."
