Jihyun

"Morning, guys," Jungkook greeted as he approached us. "Jihyun, I brought you coffee."

I lifted my eyebrows as I was surprised by the sudden act. I looked to my left and I found Taehyung trying to hold his laughter. Geez, that guy.

"O-Oh, Sergeant Jeon. You don't have to-"

"Aish, don't be so formal. Just take the coffee," he said, lending me the cup of coffee that he had been holding onto, so I took it. It's just coffee anyway. "By the way, do you have plans tonight?"

"No, why? Are you trying to ask me out?"

He chuckled. "If I am, what would be your answer?"

I rolled my eyes. "Sergeant J-"

He cut me off by shaking his head. "Ugh, fine. Jungkook," I said, "are you trying to destroy your career? You're my boss and after all, we only had one sex. That was it."

"Come on, just let me take you out for one night and if it doesn't go well, I'm going to leave you alone."

"No," I said firmly and almost immediately. "Coworkers aren't supposed to go out. I'm not interested anyway."

"Please," he said. "Just for one night."

"My answer is final, Sergeant Jeon," I said, "and it's no."

He sighed, then he left my desk and went to his office. Taehyung's gaze followed Jungkook's figure before it was back to me. He then dragged his chair to my desk.

"You're mean."

I scoffed. "Well, take it or leave it."

"I can't believe the only complain you have for sleeping with Jungkook is that he's your boss," he said. "Did you not listen the part where he likes to tell lies to girls to get laid?"

"Bro, how do you not think that him being my boss is worse than him telling girls lies?" I asked while taking a sip of my morning coffee. "Besides I've told you, I'm only in for the sex. I could care less about him lying."

He sighed, then he took away my cup and put it on the desk. "Jihyun, I know it's hard but you know," he said, "don't you wanna give it a try?"

I didn't answer him, I looked down on my coffee cup instead. I was saved by the bell as Taehyung's phone beeped.

"It's my CI. They told me where the dealer's heading to. Let's go," I said as a I grabbed my coat and so did Jihyun.

---

"When is that dealer coming anyway?" I asked with kimbap on my hand. "We've been in this surveillance van for an hour and I don't see any car with his plate yet."

"Let's just wait a little longer," he said with a tone that I guessed to be bad mood.

I put down my binoculars and continued eating my kimbap. "How are things with Sojin?"

"It's complicated," he said. Ah, gotcha. "It seems like she's not over her ex yet."

"See? Why do people even date, man? Be more like me," I said. "I don't have to give a single damn about anything else beside myself."

"Do you know what I think?" he said. "I think you're a coward."

What he said caused me to raise an eyebrow. "What are you talking about?"

He sighed and put down his binoculars also. "I think you're too afraid of getting back into the dating game because you don't want your heart get hurt again," he said. "Thus, you're a coward."

"Hey, where is this coming from?!"

"I've been tiptoeing around you so you won't get hurt but I need you to face the truth right now. You cheated on him, he got murdered. Get over it."

What the fuck?!

I furrowed. "Fuck you, Taehyung. Take out your anger on someone else."

I was so mad at him that I stormed off and slammed the door behind me. I knew that he didn't mean any of that, but I just couldn't believe he told me to just get over it. He knew how traumatized I was back then and he knew how hard it was for me to finally have some trust in someone else after it happened.

He was being a fucking ass.
