Taehyung
"Hey, Tae," Sojin said as she approached me in the precinct, "thank you so much for yesterday. You have no idea how scary it was to me. Is there anything I can do to return the favor?"
I curled up my lips as I tried to think of something. "I mean, I don't usually ask someone to return the favor since it's my job to protect civilians," I said, "but I do need you to check up on Jihyun, please? She seemed fine from the phone but I need to know if she really is okay."
She rolled her eyes playfully. "You really care about her, don't you?"
I chuckled. "Yes and that's why I need you, as someone who used to be close with her and knows about her past as well as I do, to find out whether or not she likes me. I need that so badly."
She burst into laughter. "You are so pathetic."
"Hey, anything for love," I said, chuckling. "Please. I just need to know that and while you're at it, buy her some food for dinner."
She sighed. "It's a good thing that I've only been targeted by a serial killer once because if it weren't for that son of a bitch, I wouldn't be your slave like this."
I winked at her as a thank you and off she went. It was already late and I was packing my things, getting ready to go home, when Seokjin suddenly approached me.
"Hey, I didn't know Yoongi is getting transferred to jail tonight," he said. "Did you sign the transfer form?"
I raised an eyebrow. "Huh? What are you talking about? I didn't request for a transfer."
As soon as I saw Seokjin's face get pale, my heart dropped immediately. "H-He isn't in his cell."
"HE GOT AWAY?!"
Seokjin and I then called for an emergency manhunt protocol. Captain Kim was furious, but getting us punished was another matter that was less important than a serial killer getting loose, so he was focused on finding him.
We looked for him anywhere in the entire precinct, but we couldn't find any sign of him, which meant that he could already be walking freely on the street. We sent every unit to go through every corner of every street and alerted everyone to keep their doors locked.
But I knew one person who always forgot to lock their front door.
"Come on, Jihyun. Pick up."
I'd been trying to call Jihyun to make sure she was okay and to warn her about Yoongi being loose, but so far it'd been missed calls. It made me even more worried, so I called Sojin instead.
"Hey, Tae. I just got home from Jihyun's and guess what? She has something so exciting to tell you."
"Okay, good, you're home. You need to lock your doors, okay. Yoongi has gotten away and it's very possible that he is looking for another victim to kill as we speak."
There was a silent for a few seconds across the line which made me confused as to why she suddenly went quiet, until she started to stutter. "U-Um, T-Tae. I'm so sorry for not telling you this sooner but I did vaguely see a man with a black hoodie in Jihyun's apartment lobby. I-I don't know if it's Y-Yoongi t-though."
I widened my eyes when she told me that as I just became even more worried. I then ended the call and rushed to Jihyun's apartment.
As I expected, the door wasn't locked, so I could come in easily. I was alone at the moment with no back up whatsoever. I heard a sound of water running from the bathroom, so I grabbed my gun and straightened my arms forward while holding it.
I slowly opened the bathroom door and called out her name. "Jihyun?"
However, I didn't see anyone in the bathroom and the water was running from the shower with no one using it.
"Ah, we meet again, detective."
I hardened my jaws when I heard a voice of a man. I turned around to see Yoongi aiming a gun at me, ready to shoot.
"Where is she, Yoongi?"
"Drop the gun, detective," he said, "or I'll shoot you."
I wasn't willing to drop my gun, of course, but he wasn't joking about what he said, so he shot my stomach, causing me to fall onto the ground and groaned in pain.
"WHERE IS SHE?!"
He approached me and knelt in front of me before putting the gun under my chin. "Don't worry, detective, she's in good hands," he said with that creepy smile of his, "but you? You irritate me so much with that hideous teeth of yours. You see, I was going to play nice to her since she was my favorite intern's girlfriend, but now that you're here, I may have to kill you both."
My hand tried to reach for my gun that fell behind him, but he went ahead to shoot me in the arms.
"Argh!!"
"Why are you so impatient, detective? I'm trying to wait for a couple of moments so you would bleed out and be in pain first so I can shoot you in the head next."
"Listen here, you son a bitch," I said, grabbing him by the collar with any energy I had left from my arms. "You tell me where my girl is and promise me that she's safe for now, then I'll let you kill me."
He sighed. "Alright, fine. I've tied her somewhere in this apartment and yes, she's fine, she's not dead yet at least not now. Are we good?"
I'd been running out of blood so it made me start losing my vision. I didn't have the energy left to think so I nodded.
He was about to pull the trigger from the gun when I heard a loud noise next. Apparently, Jihyun had freed herself from the tie and hit Yoongi's head with her baseball bat.
"Oh my God, Taehyung, this is bad," she said as she tried to cover the blood from running out with her hands. Even with a blurry vision I could see her face seem really worried. "Please, hang in there, Tae. Chaeyeon and Seokjin are gonna be here soon, I've called them."
"Ho, ho. Not so fast, detective," Yoongi suddenly said as he stood up, though we could notice that he was holding the pain on his head. "Jihyun, sweetie, can you step aside for a while? I need to kill him first, then I'll kill you next, alright?"
I saw so many huge bruises on her body, which meant that she'd been hurt by Yoongi before I arrived. That explained why she was struggling to stand up and take him down.
"I'm not going anywhere," she said. "If you're going to shoot the man that I love now, you're gonna have to shoot me first."
He shrugged. "Suit yourself."
Again, Yoongi was ready to pull the trigger, but he was shot first by Seokjin who finally had arrived. He dragged Yoongi out of the bathroom and handcuffed him where as Chaeyeon and some other people from the medical unit took us to the ambulance and headed to the hospital.
