Jihyun

I woke up the next morning with heavy eyes. I had been spending thousands of hours as a police officer that I didn't know what to do when I was told to stay at home like this.

Taehyung checked up on me every hour by texting me or even calling me. It was nice though. He told me to try be a normal person in their late 20s, so that was what I did. I spent hours watching Netflix, doing chores, eating snack, and going out to shop a bit.

It was finally night time. I was about to cook for dinner with my nonexistent cooking ability when the door was suddenly knocked.

Kind of hoping for Taehyung, but it wasn't him who came. Guess who?

"Oh, Sojin. Hey," I greeted, a bit awkwardly might I add.

"Hi, girl. Can I come in?" she asked and I nodded, then I let her in. "I'm so sorry for coming here late at night like this. Taehyung asked me to check up on you and buy you some food since you can't cook, so here."

I accepted the food she brought for me and chuckled a bit. "You don't have to do this, Sojin. You don't owe him anything."

She chuckled too. "Yeah, but I do owe you," she said, "you know, after the whole thing with Taehyung yesterday in his apartment."

"Oh, no worries about that," I said. "Like, if he is going to hook up with someone else after I got him brokenhearted, I'm glad it's you, someone I used to be close with."

She sighed. "Yeah, we were so close back then in high school," she said. "What happened?"

I shrugged. "I don't think anything happened. We just got lost in contact since I went to England."

She smiled, then she took a seat on my couch. "I miss you, girl."

I smiled back and sat next to her. "I miss you too, Sojin. We definitely should catch up some time."

"Anyway, you don't have to worry about Taehyung and me," she said. "I went to his apartment because that Min Yoongi guy was targeting me so he was protecting me, but well, one thing led to another. Also, it's just a one time thing."

I chuckled. "Why are telling me that? You know that you don't have to explain anything to me, right?"

"Geez, Jihyun. You still don't realize it, do you?" she asked, causing me to raise an eyebrow.

"Realize what?"

"You can't hide it from me, Jihyun. I know you and I don't think you're gonna be surprised when I tell you that you have the same look for Taehyung as the one you had for Jimin."

I looked down at my intertwined fingers. "Nah. It can't be."

"Look, hun," she said as she adjusted her seat. "I know that Jimin was the love of your life. I could never imagine how you felt when you found out about the murder."

"Sojin, I cheated on him," I said, expecting her to be surprised but turned out she wasn't, "and I don't know why you're not as surprised as I expected you to be, but he also knew about it."

"So you feel like letting yourself be in love with Taehyung counts as cheating on Jimin," she said and I nodded. "Jihyun, I know that you cheated on him. I also know that he knew about it."

"He told you?"

She nodded. "Yes, and hun, he forgave you," she said, grabbing my hand. "Yes, he was sad and all, but he understood that you might have been lonely and missing him since he was super busy back then as a dentistry student. He was okay with that."

My hand that Sojin was holding started to shake. "H-He was okay? He forgave me even though I've never got the chance to apologize to him?"

"Yes. He just wanted the best for you and if hooking up with another guy was a way for you to cope with that loneliness, then he understood," she said. "So, please, let yourself experience love again, Jihyun. Let yourself love someone without having to think that you're cheating on him."

"I-I don't know, Sojin."

"I want you to tell me what you think about Taehyung. Does he make you happy?"

"Well, he's my best friend, Sojin, so of course I feel the happiest with him since he makes me smile all the time. I feel the safest with him because his hug gives me the best warmth I can have from anyone. He has the prettiest features, the sweetest smile, the cutest laugh, and the kindest eyes."

I notice Sojin started to put on a smile. "Tell me. Why do you think he confessed his love to you if he knew that you're not in a state where you can be in love with anyone?"

I went silent for a while as it hit me. "Because I almost kissed him that night."

She giggled. "Were you wondering what his lips tasted like?"

"Oh, I know what it tastes like, alright. The taste of his lips when we kissed that night, to keep our undercover unrevealed of course, made me addicted, you know, like in a way that I would want to kiss him all over again," I said before I came to the realization of why anyone would say that I liked him, "and that's why I found myself trying to kiss him that night when he confessed his feelings to me and that morning when I came to his apartment."

"So it hit you already?"

I was lost in my own thoughts for a while before I turned to her. "I like him, don't I?"

"Ah, finally. Took you so long to say that, huh?" she said as she stood up. "My job here is done. Make sure to tell him that, okay?"

I smiled and I nodded. Sojin then packed her things and told me to text her the date as to when we should hang out before she headed out. And as for me, I stepped into the shower to take a bath before planning to come over to Taehyung's apartment.

However, I didn't realize that my phone kept ringing when I was in the shower. Boy, should I have picked that up.
