Chapter 3

Taehyung

I arrived at the precinct at the same time as that chirpy lady did. I chuckled seeing her so happy in the morning like this while she put her stuff on her desk.

"What brings you so much joy in the morning?" I asked.

"I just had the greatest sex I've had in weeks," she said with her cheerful tone. "Your boy Jeon Jungkook is AMAZING. Go treat him or something."

"For what?"

"For making me feel alive."

I chuckled again. "Why me? You go treat him on your second date," I said, receiving a glare from her. "What? Hearing you so happy with Jungkook like that, I thought there would be a second date."

"You know I don't date people."

"Yeah, but I thought this time's different."

She sighed. "I'm just in for the sex, man. Let me die alone."

"You should go back to the game, Jihyun," I said, causing her to laugh. "It's been a long time."

"The sex is the game. You and your hopeless romantic ass should catch up," she said while sticking out her tongue, causing me to let out a 'yah' and smack her arm.

I was about to fight her back when Captain Kim called us all for the usual morning briefing. All of us gathered around with Captain Kim standing in front of the room behind the podium.

"Good morning, detectives and officers," he said with his usual commanding voice. "As you know, our former detective Jung Hoseok was supposed to be promoted as sergeant before he left the force, so there has been a vacant spot for a sergeant in the precinct for a while."

I looked around as I noticed people started whispering to one another. They seemed to be wondering whether or not this briefing was held to announce a promotion of another detective as a sergeant to replace Detective Jung.

"Detectives and officers, I'd like to welcome our newest member in the precinct," he said while gesturing his hand to call whoever he was calling. "Sergeant Jeon Jungkook."

Jihyun who was sitting next to me dropped her jaws completely as Jungkook entered the room. I wonder why she was so surprised, well, beside the fact that she apparently just slept with her boss.

"Good morning, detectives," Jungkook said. "Nice to meet everyone. My name is Sergeant Jeon Jungkook and I just transferred from Yongsan. I'm looking forward to be working together with all of you."

"Very nice, Sergeant Jeon. Welcome to the team," Captain Kim said as he patted Jungkook's back. "Now, I'm going to be handing cases. Detective Kim Seokjin and Detective Park Chaeyeon, you will have the kidnapping case. Detective Choi Minho and Detective Bae Joohyun, you will have the homicide case in the Kim family's house."

Jihyun and I were anticipating as to what case we would be handling for the second time as partners. 

"Detective Kim Taehyung and Detective Jung Jihyun, I'm going to give you another drug dealing case," he said.

When everyone left the room, Jungkook approached us with his usual bunny smile.

"Hey, man," I said as I gave him a quick bro hug, "why didn't you tell me you were transferring?"

"Wait, you KNEW Jungkook's in the force too?!" Jihyun asked as she grabbed me by the collar.

"Huh? What are you talking about?" I asked back, raising an eyebrow. Seeing us bicker like this made Jungkook burst into laughter. I assumed that he had been playing a trick on Jihyun, just like what he liked to do with other girls. "Kook, what lies are you telling girls now?"

"I told Jihyun that I'm a movie director," he said, receiving a death glare from my best friend. "I didn't know that she would buy it."

Jihyun groaned as she covered her face with both of her hands. "Ugh, I can't believe I just slept with a high ranking officer."

"Hey, at least the sex's great, right?" he said, causing me to laugh.

"Oh, shut up."
