Chapter 22

Taehyung

Oh, dear, I could clearly see the anger on her face which I must say she hid it really well.

"Um, Sojin, could you give us a minute?" I asked and she nodded. She then closed the door, leaving me alone with pissed Jihyun in the hallway.

"You know what, Tae," she said, "I should just go. You're busy right now with Sojin, so I-"

She was about to leave when I grabbed her hand. "No, please, don't go," I said. "I want to know why you're here in the first place."

My heart hurt when she rolled her eyes. "Forget it, Tae, this is clearly a mistake. Just go back to whatever you were doing with Sojin."

"Jihyun, I would really like to know something and I want you to answer me honestly," I said and she stood there, waiting for me to continue. "Do you like me?"

She raised an eyebrow and scoffed. "Why would you assume that I have feelings for you?"

I sighed. "Because I'm tired of kissing people and pretending that they're you," I said, causing the girl in front of me to seem flustered, "so please, if you do like me, say it to me."

"Just... go back to her, Tae. I'm sorry that I've ruined the moment for you guys."

"So are we just gonna pretend that you didn't just come to my apartment only to head out now?"

She shrugged. "Yeah. Let's pretend I did," she said as she left.

I grunted as my back leaned onto the wall. Damn it.

"Yeah, man. She literally went to my apartment and I know she was going to say something, but she still wouldn't admit it," I said, pouting. "She looks pissed instead."

The man beside me smacked the back of my head, causing me to look at him in disbelief.

"Of course she's pissed, you idiot," he said. "You just told her you were in love with her a week or two ago and then when she finally gathered her courage to talk to you, she found out that you were banging another girl that turned out to be your ex!"

"I didn't know that she'd be pissed! She told me that I shouldn't have feelings for her so I went hooking up with another girl. How is this my fault?"

I saw him roll his eyes. "Because she likes you, idiot. I've told you that a million times," he said, "and why on earth would you bring Sojin to the precinct?"

"She's being targeted by Min Yoongi. I can't leave her alone, like at least not now."

Seokjin then took a deep breath before he smacked the back of my head once again. "Idiot," he said. "If Min Yoongi knows where she lives and she's currently being targeted by him, then let's go to her house now and stay with her while we wait for his appearance you dumb ass."

I let out an 'aaahh' as I agreed to his idea. We then packed our things to go wait at Sojin's house as I glanced at Jihyun's desk and Mrs. Choi was just leaving as she went to grab a cup of coffee.

Seokjin saw me glancing at her, so he asked, "Are you gonna ask her again?"

"I just wanna know why she's too scared to admit how she feels about me," I said before I approached her desk. "Hi there beautiful."

"Yes, hello, Kim Taehyung," she said without looking at me. "How's the early sex with your ex-girlfriend?"

I chuckled. "Why? Are you jealous?" I asked, causing her to let out a fake laugh.

"Haha, bro as if."

I suddenly thought of something that would piss her even more. I then put on a smirk and said, "Okay then, because right now I'm going to her house with her."

She raised an eyebrow. "You can't do that," she said. "You're on duty!"

"Why? Are you bothered by that?" I asked, causing her to groan. "If you are, you can come with us."

"And be a third-wheeler? No thanks. I'm just telling you as your police partner that you should take your job seriously," she said as she turned back to her paperwork, "but whatever, I guess. Do what you want. I don't care. I can catch this son of a bitch without you."

After that, Seokjin, Sojin, and I headed out and went to her house. It was broad daylight, but Sojin did live in a quite dangerous neighborhood where I rarely saw anyone wandering around, making it the perfect situation for Min Yoongi or Mr. Choi to start his act.

"Okay, Sojin," I said, giving her a briefing about how it would go down, "I need you to stand as closely as possible to the window so he could see you. Seokjin and I will hide not too far from you so we can jump in action if anything happens. You get it?"

She nodded, so I gave Seokjin who was prepping our vests and guns a thumbs up as a sign that we were ready.

The plan went well. About a half hour after I briefed her, we all heard the door open. Sojin pretended she didn't hear that and continued whatever she was doing. So, when Mr. Choi was getting nearer to her, Seokjin and I caught him and then handcuffed him before we brought him to the precinct.

So we finally caught the infamous Min Yoongi or Mr. Choi. It was just a matter of time before justice served his ass.
