It seemed like forever before she got to work.  Traffic was horrible.  This gave her time to get herself together and plaster a fake smile on her face as she has done since they had broken up.
“Good morning, Mr. Johnston.  How are you doing this morning?”
“I’m doing fine, but you don’t look like your usual perky self, is there anything wrong this morning?”
“Nothing I really want to talk about right now, sir.  Thank you anyway.”
“Well, if you ever need to talk about it, you know where I am.”
“Thank you again.” she said as she headed to her desk to lay her things down and start her morning.  Jessica is the executive assistant for one of the original partners of a large law firm in Atlanta. She has been his assistant for about six years now.  They had become close and he had become like a father figure to her.  She had lost her dad when she was sixteen to cancer.  She confided a lot to him over the years but today she didn’t want to talk to anyone.  She went about her business and didn’t realize it was lunch time. Until her phone rang and she looked to see it was her best friend.
“Hey, girl.  How ya doin’? I miss ya girl.”
“I’m doing okay.  Just taking it one day at a time.”
“I’m so sorry, girl.  Do I need to go beat him up?”
“No, I laughed. “I just don’t ever want to see him again.”
“I hear ya.  How about you come out with me this Saturday?  Let’s forget him.”
“I don’t know.  I just don’t feel like being in public.”
“Come on, let’s party and forget.  If it gets to be too much we will go home.
“I’ll think about it.”
“Yeah, I will see you Saturday night.”
“Allright, meet at my house.”
Jessica headed out to lunch to have some time to herself.  Once she finished lunch she headed back to the office to finish the day.  The rest of the week she kept to herself and soon it was Saturday.
“Hey, girl!  Where are you at?” Cristal called as she came in the front door.
“Hey, I’m in the kitchen!”
“Why aren’t you getting ready?”
“Girl, it’s only six.  We have got a couple hours before we leave.”
“Seriously, It takes time to look good.  Besides we need to eat before we go.”
“That’s what I was working on.”
“Allright, we eat and then get ready.” They sat and ate before getting ready.  Jessica didn’t eat much just pushing her food around the plate.  She didn’t feel hungry.  They then headed to Jessica’s room to get ready.
“Wow, girl! You look hot.”
“Girl, you look good too.” Soon after the uber arrived
“All right chick let’s go!” They headed out and climbed into the uber and headed out to Sanctuary.  They head over and of course Crystal knew the bouncer so he let them in quickly.  Once they were inside they headed straight to the bar.
“What can I get you two beautiful ladies tonight?”
“Four shots of tequila, Crown apple and Sprite and a Mai Tai.” Jessica said as she leaned over the bar.
“Coming right up sweetheart.” After a few minutes the bartender returned with her order.
“Here chick, down the hatch!” She says as she hands two shots to Crystal.
“To a great night and possibly an awesome lay!”
“Maybe for you, not for me!” They downed both of the shots. Jessica could feel the burn as it slid down her throat.  They started on their drinks as they looked around the crowded nightclub. It was crowded tonight,as she scanned the club.  She came across a handsome man with the most beautiful blue eyes and long dark hair. She couldn’t help but stare.  He looked her way and smiled.  She blushed and turned away.  She was a shy one, and didn't notice his eyes never left her. Once they finished their drinks they headed for the dance floor.  They were on the dance floor for a while and both decided to head for a drink and cool down. He noticed that they had left the dance floor and started to make his way through the crowd to go talk to her. They order two more shots each and another round of drinks.  They were having a great time until Jessica heard a familiar voice.
“Well look what we have here.”
“What do you want, jerk?”
“I don’t think I was talking to you.”
“Well, Tony.  What do you want?”
“I want you.  I just want to talk to you.  I made a mistake.”
He said as he grabbed Jessica’s arm a little forcefully as she screamed. “Let go of me! You're hurting me!”
She struggled with Tony as he tried to drag her off somewhere private. As he tried to drag her off the handsome man finally made it through the crowd. He grabbed Tony to stop him.
“Hey, do mind telling me where you are taking my girl?”
“Um, nowhere.  She wanted to talk to me.” He said as he still held tightly to her arm.  She was shaking her head no behind him.  She winced as he grabbed tighter.  She stumbled a little as the alcohol was starting to take effect.  She was somewhat of a lightweight.
“I don't think she did, so you might want to let go of her now.”
“Or what would happen?” Tony said as he squared up to the stranger.
“I don’t think you would want to find out.”
“I’m not scared of you.” Tony said as he tried to swing at him.  He was a little slow since he had been drinking alot. The man ducked easily and punched Tony square in the jaw and knocked him down.  He then caught Jessica as she fell against him.
“Ugh, I don’t feel so good.  I think I need to go home.”
“Alright, doll.  Let’s get you back to your friend and get you home.” He walks Jessica back to Crystal, keeping her close so she doesn’t stumble and fall.
“Oh, thank you sir. I couldn’t stop him.”
“Your welcome, and I think she needs to get home.  She is a little drunk and I think she might vomit soon.”
“I will call an uber.  Can you help me get her outside?”
“Sure thing, don’t want anything to happen to y’all.”
Crystal called for the uber.  He walked them out and it soon arrived.  He helped Jessica into the back seat and buckled her in. Placing a hand to her check and kissing her forehead.
“Y’all have a safe night, and maybe I’ll see y’all again.”
“Maybe, see you soon.” he closed the door, and waved as they drove off.  He thought to himself.
“You idiot, you didn’t get her number!” He said to himself as he smacked his forehead and headed back inside to his friends.
