Can love be found

Chapter Twenty Five

It was finally Monday and I am staring at the new building. Mr. Johnston will be there for the first week to get everything settled in. I headed into my new office and get everything set up and head into Mr. Johnston's office to get ready for the day. I grab two mugs of coffee and head in. I set his coffee on his desk and sit down.

"Good morning, Mr. Johnston. How are you doing this morning?"

"I am doing well. How are you liking the new office?"

"I love it. My office is so much bigger."

I picked that one out just for you."

We run through everything for the day and he hands me a few files and contracts he wants me to go through, and I get ready to head back to my office.

"There is one thing I want to ask you before I head out."

"Yes, dear. What is it?"

"You know you are just like a father to me, since I lost my own father. I am getting married soon and wanted to ask you if you would walk me down the aisle?"

"Oh my, I would be honored to walk my daughter down the aisle." He got up and came over to give me a hug and I teared up a little. "It makes me so happy to know you think of me so highly. You have always been the daughter I never had."

"Thank you, it means so much to me."

I head back to my desk and start on my work. At the end of the day I head home. I pull into the driveway and head into the house. I walk into the kitchen and the smell of dinner wafts into my nose. It smells so good.

"Hey doll, how was your first day?" He asks as he comes around the island and wraps me in his strong arms, and kisses my lips.

"It was great. I love the new office. I also asked Mr. Johnston to walk me down the aisle."

"What did he say?"

"He said he would love to. I wish my dad were alive to do it, but Mr. Johnston has been like a dad to me these last couple of years."

"I am glad he will do it. He means alot to you, and I know you wanted him to be a part of this. Go have a seat and I will bring dinner in."

I head into the dining room and soon he brings in the plates and sits down across from me.

"This looks and smells amazing."

"Since it was your first day at the new office I wanted to make dinner for you in celebration."

"Aww, thank you babe. This is great. I may have you cook more often."

We laugh as we finish our meal. After we have finished eating, I help him clean up and put everything away.

"So I was thinking about September for our wedding. What do you think?"

"I think that would be great. Rodeo season would be slowing down by then."

"Oh yeah, that's right you have one this weekend don't you?"

"Yes, I do. I wish you were going with me. I always miss you when you are not with me."

"We will talk every day. You will do great. Besides, Brad will be there with you. (giggles)"

"It's just not the same."

He laughs as we sit and watch some tv before heading to bed. I soon feel myself nodding off and Jacob picks me up and carries me to bed. I climb out of my clothes and crawl into bed. He undresses and climbs in behind me, wrapping his arms around me, and I am in my safe place. We soon fall asleep. The next few days go on as usual and it is soon time for him to leave. I walk out with him and Brad to send them off. I throw my arms around him and kiss him deeply, and he returns the kiss.

"I will call you when we get there. I love you."

"I will be waiting, and I love you too."

They both jump into his truck and head off. I watch them drive until I can't see them. I then head back into the house and grab my purse to head to Crystal's for dress shopping. Once I get there I head inside and see if Crystal is ready.

"Are you ready, girl? Let's get this show on the road."

"Let me grab my purse and we'll go."

We head out to the dress shop and one of the attendants comes to greet us and shows us to our room. I discuss with her what I want and she picks out several dress for me. I have gone through so many dresses and I am getting a little depressed in not finding one. She then tells me she has a couple in the back that just might work. So she goes to the back and brings out a few more.

They are all beautiful and I finally picked out the dress. I can't wait to walk down that aisle to him in the dress. After I am done we start looking for dresses for Crystal. And it wasn't too long before we find the perfect dress for her. I am now getting really excited. The wedding will be here in a few months. We purchase the dresses and schedule for fitting. We then head back to her house for a bit. ONce we get back to her house my phone rings and I smile when I see who it is.

"Hey my cowboy. Are you at the hotel?"

"Yes doll, we are here. How has your day been?"

I found my dress. It is beautiful. You will love it."

"That's great. Do I get to see it?"
"When I meet you at the altar, naughty boy."

"You like it when I am naughty, but I had to try right?"

"It was a good try. Crystal found hers too. We just have a few fittings before the wedding and you two have to get your tuxes. But I was thinking something more casual. Since it will be on the property."

"I was thinking about that too. We will talk more when I get back home. I gotta run. Brad's hungry and you know how he gets."

"Haha, yeah I do. I will talk to you later. I love you."

"Love you too, doll. Talk to you tomorrow."

"Alright Crystal, it's time for me to head home. I had such a fun day. I will talk to you later. Maybe you can come out to my house for the weekend. We could go out for a ride?"

"I might just do that. Maybe Sunday. I will call you later."

With that I head to the house. I have left my dress with Crystal so that Jacob couldn't see it. I realize how quiet it is when I get into the house, when it is just me. I miss him when he is gone.
