The year 849 had come. The Shiganshina Four have turned 14, and the cadets were well into their training.

Today, the cadets were practicing their hand-to-hand combat skills. One cadet would attack the other with a wooden knife, and the other would try to defend themselves. Today, Eren and Reiner were sparring partners. Reiner charged towards Eren, who flipped him with practically no effort. Reiner let out a groan and looked up at the brunette above him. "Man, how did you even do that?" He asked. Eren shrugged. "Well, I've fought against kids that were a lot bigger than me before, so I guess you pick up some things," he said nonchalantly. "It doesn't really matter anyway. Fighting people won't help us fight titans," Eren sighed. Reiner stood and dusted himself off. "Maybe not, but it's better to be prepared."

Eren shrugged, responding with a quiet 'maybe.' He looked around and spotted a familiar auburnette heading towards him. "Azure, why aren't you sparring with your partner?" He asked.

Azure sighed. "I don't know what's wrong with her. She just said she doesn't care to fight today, and I'm not the type to fight someone who doesn't want to fight," she shrugged. "It's fine. I came to see what you guys were up to anyways."

Reiner raised an eyebrow. "No, it's not. Who's your partner?" He asked. Azure nodded her head towards a familiar stoic blonde girl. "Annie Leonhardt," she replied

Reiner narrowed his eyes at the girl. "Let's confront her. If she wants to be a real soldier, she should do all the training, just like everybody else,"

Eren nodded, and the three headed over to the tiny girl, who turned to face them after she heard them coming.

"What do you two want?" She muttered. Eren stepped up and crossed his arms. "You're slacking off. Why aren't you fighting with your partner?" He asked, gesturing towards Azure. Annie rolled her eyes. "I just don't want to fight today. She's not much of a worthy opponent."

Azure huffed, crossing her arms. "Well, you wouldn't know that considering you refuse to fight me!" She sneered. Reiner nodded. "She's right. It isn't fair to Azure, Annie."

Annie shrugged. "Not my problem," she said before walking off.

"That's it. I'm teaching her a lesson," Eren grumbled. He gestured for the wooden knife Reiner held in his hand. Reiner gave it to him and watched as Eren charged at Annie from behind. Annie suddenly whipped backwards and sidestepped, tripping Eren in the process. Eren growled and immediately stood up, charging at her once again. Annie disarmed Eren, then tossed him over towards Reiner and Azure. She threw the knife at their feet. "Does anyone else want to challenge me?" She asked.

Reiner hesitantly looked down at the knife, then towards Eren, who laid on the ground, staring up at him with a judgemental look on his face. "Aren't you the self-proclaimed ladies' man?" He asked. Azure raised an eyebrow. "Ladies' man?"

Eren ignored her question, continuing to look straight at Reiner. "Would you rather send Azure out there? Or are you going to man up and fight? You're a soldier, aren't you?" He questioned, his eyes bearing into Reiner's.

The blonde nodded. Picking up the wooden knife and charging towards Annie. The smaller blonde easily disarmed Reiner, knocking his leg out from under him and flipping him onto his back. Azure and Eren, now standing, winced at the uncomfortable position their bulky friend was in.

"That's gotta hurt..." she mumbled. Eren nodded, then walked towards Annie. "Hey, where'd you learn to do that move?" He asked. Annie shrugged. "My dad taught me. It doesn't matter, though, because we aren't really going to be scored on it anyways. Our ranking depends more on how good we are with the 3DMG," she stated before rushing Eren with the wooden knife.
