Ｔｈｅ Ｓｔａｒｔ ｔｏ ａｎ Ｅｎｄ

Azure watched as Eren swung to the top of Wall Rose. She huffed. "Eren, wait up!"

Azure swung up to meet him. He looked over at her in surprise.

"What the hell are you doing!?" He hissed. Azure couldn't respond. She stared straight at the giant titan in front of her, her eyes wide. Eren sighed. "Just get out of here!"

Eren darted to the side and ran up the Colossal Titan's arm. He confidently launched himself off of the arm then turned and shot his hooks towards the titan. He was met with smoke.

He felt himself rocket towards the wall. He shot his legs out and he crouched onto the wall, looking up to see an empty space. He looked below him and saw two large footprints.

The titan was gone.

"Eren! I'm so sorry are you okay!?"

Eren looked up to see Azure leaning over the wall. He let out a breath and nodded, climbing back up onto the wall.

"Hey, you kids!"

Eren looked over his shoulder to see a Garrison vanguard make his way towards the trainees.

"Listen, we don't have enough soldiers to fight so it looks like you guys will have to. Anyone that came into contact with the titan needs to go to headquarters immediately and report what you saw. The rest of you, come with me," he announced.

Eren and Azure slowly made their way off the wall and started the trek towards headquarters. Eren looked towards his companion with worry in his eyes. "Azure, are you okay?"

The auburnette reluctantly nodded. Eren stopped her and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Are you sure?"

Azure let out a shaky sigh. "We don't really have a choice."

Eren slid his hand down to hers and squeezed it, quickly letting go.

The two entered the headquarters in silence and gave their reports. They exited the building and ran straight into a frantic Mikasa. She pulled them into a hug.

"I was so worried about you guys..." she whispered.

Armin ran up to the three. "You guys! This is hell!"

Eren pulled out of Mikasa's grasp and headed towards Armin. "Armin! Are you okay?"

The blonde boy shook his head. "No! There's an eight-meter hole in the wall and because of that, the titans will get in and then we'll all die!"

Eren shook him. "Calm down! Nobody's dying! Did the officials announce anything?"

Armin shakily breathed out. "We've been assigned to the middle."

Eren nodded. "Alright, let's stock up on supplies and get going!"

"No, Eren. We were assigned to the middle. Azure and Mikasa were assigned to the rear," Armin stated.

Azure felt her heart drop. "Why am I in the rear?" She asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Mikasa looked just as distraught. "I can't be in the rear. I'm not that good and I need to protect Eren."

Eren looked at the two with anger. "Don't be stupid, both of you! You're both qualified for the position. You two ranked pretty high, y'know!"

Azure shook her head. "I wasn't top three, why am I in the rear," she muttered.

Ignoring her, Eren turned towards Mikasa. "And stop trying to watch over me! We're in a crisis and there are so many people we have to protect. Did you join the military for me or for the people that need us!?"
