So many things followed that. Later, when we all left the dorm, the bodies and odor were gone. Completely vanished.
And apparently, there were creepy zombie-like people trying to break into the boy's dorm behind barred windows. But they were gone and the windows were blocked with bricks.
The rooms were all clean and back to how they were when we first got here. It was so strange. All of these things happened without a noise in such a short amount of time.
It seemed impossible, and no one could figure out how it happened.
But the worst part is that we never found food. All we had was the water from the sinks. After all I went through, after what all of them went through, starving us to death was a stupid way to end it.
I think about all of this as I stare into Newt's eyes. We're both on a top bunk in the boy's dorm. I'm actually pretty comfortable, just laying down, facing him. It's dark, and all I can see is the outline of his face.
Everyone was napping, which was something Thomas started. When he just crashed out on a bed, everyone sort of relaxed.
"What are you thinking about?" Newt whispers.
"Nothing good. Nothing worth your time," I whisper back.
"Anything that concerns you is worth my time. Come on, let's hear it," he says.
"No really it's nothing. It's just... I don't want to die in here from starving," I say casually, trying not to worry him.
"Oh come on, don't lose hope that bloody quick," he says.
"Please, hope is my middle name. Seems like what I survive off of..." I trail off but continue, "That's why I feel like I'm barely alive."
Newt runs his hand up arm from my wrist to my shoulder, giving me goosebumps. He then puts it on my neck, right under my head, and pulls my lips onto his.
I feel electricity. It feels wonderful, and I never want it to end. I kiss back and put my hand under his chin.
He pulls away, but still keeps our faces as close as possible, "Feel alive yet?"
I laugh and say, "Does this answer your question?" And then I kiss him again.
He runs his hand from my neck, down my spine, to my lower back and pulls my body closer to his.
I smile against his lips. I do feel alive, I feel great in his presence. And I think the feeling is mutual.
Something breaks the silence of the room, but I can't tell what it is. Newt hears it too, and we break apart both start looking around.
Then I see his shuck face, Minho, resting his chin on the headboard of our bunk.
He clears his throat again, the same noise that interrupted the silence.
"Minho-" Newt starts, but he cuts him off.
"We would all appreciate it if you two could keep your shuck love down a bit. Please and thank you." Minho says with a smile, and then jumps down and disappears.
I roll my eyes and Newt laughs.
~
My eyes flutter open to a headache and a growling stomach.
I groan and attempt at sitting up. But no food for a whole day really hits me, and it's more difficult than I realized. But I slowly rise, and swing my legs over the bed onto the ladder.
I look around the room with squinted eyes. Minho's asleep. Newt is awake and about of course. Thomas is up, but sitting in his bed. Winston, up. And two other guys I don't know are awake. Everyone else, asleep.
