The Only One (Newt || fanfiction)

Hello

Um... hi. There are probably a lot of people wondering where I went, why I quit, how I just disappeared without warning. They may want an explanation, or maybe an apology. I'm here to provide both.

You see, I loved writing this book. I really did. In the beginning I was inspired, excited, and just so happy with it. As it became a little more popular, my expectations for it started to rise. That was a mistake. I started to worry that no one liked it. I was getting less comments and I felt like I should have been getting more reads faster than I did. It was causing so much pointless stress, that I decided it just wasn't worth it.

So I quit. I was in the middle of writing a new chapter when I just decided that I was done. I didn't say anything, or delete the account, I literally just stopped in my tracks and disappeared. In reality, I deleted Wattpad back in December and never got on it again.

Well, today I had nothing to do. I was very bored and I remembered my little fanfiction. Two months felt like a year, and I could hardly even remember the title of it. So I downloaded the app and logged in.

I was expecting maybe five or six notifications, because I figured the book was forgotten and not cared for. But when I logged on, I noticed that I was wrong.

223 notifications and 4 messages. Comments praising me for my writing skills and unique wordings, messages begging me to update, votes, and follows. There are many books here that get this every day, but for me this was huge, even though it occurred over the course of 2 months.

So, I won't make any promises, but I think I may give Eve a second chance. I had a truly amazing idea that I was going to follow through with. A complete game changer to the amazing book by James Dashner. I was just lacking inspiration and motivation. But I'm starting to pick it back up. My gears are finally starting to turn. But, you guys have to remember that your support is my oil. It runs the engine and keeps everything moving. I need you guys.

So what do you think? Should I try to keep Eve's story going, or let her vanish? It's all up to you.
