It's been a two days since the funeral, since the discovery of Xavier Montgomery. I obviously haven't told my mother anything, she'll be furious when she finds out I went behind her back, but I need to know, I have a right to know my father. She'll understand that, right?
I had finally finished decorating my room, I decided to go off the rustic feel it gave me when I first saw it, I didn't want to change much, I just added my books into the little corners and my easel plus my violin, everything that's mine, I don't have much, I never really felt fond of anything else. I just came out of the shower so I left a window open, a small little bluebird comes and sits on the ledge, I walk up to it and it hops towards me, allowing me to stroke it's back gently before flying away, I smile to myself, being here is like being in a fairytale.
I put on my pink top and black overall dress, I let my curls run wild today leaving them half up half down, I smile at myself in the mirror, todays the day, I was overcome with ambition because today, well today I'm meeting my father.

I walk down the creaky staircase and find my mum in the kitchen making breakfast, she puts a plate in front of me and sets down eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes with mushrooms and a side of beans, a full English breakfast, I sigh at the familiar sight-and smell- I thought we were going to leave that all behind in London, I'm so glad we didn't.
"You know y/n, you're going to need to get used to the food here." My mum advised me.
"Now why would I do that when we have a extremely good thing going here" I chimed after swallowing the mouthful of eggs I was holding.
My mum eyed me carefully as I finished up the rest of my plate and went to the dishwasher, I was walking back to my bedroom to do more research before my search for dad mission however my mum called out for me. "Y/n, come let's go."
I peak my head around the doorway and stare at my mum confused "go where?" I questioned.
"Well I'm going to take you for some of the best beignets known to man and then you're going to help me set up my dads shop." She smiled gently towards me.
Crap. "Do I have to?" I asked, hoping that her answer would be no Im fine I don't need the help y/n, but what are the chances of that happening?
"I mean, yes it would be nice to show you what I did at your age" she paused before continuing "unless you have something else to do?"
"No" wait what? NO. Think of an excuse y/n "I mean yes I do" I quickly recovered, "Benji and I are meeting up later, we're going to hang out some more."
"Hm" she eyed me suspiciously "you and Benji have been hanging out a lot recently, is there something going on between you two?"
What the? Did she really just? "What? No! He's just a friend mum, in fact he's my only friend here. That's it nothing more."
She kept her suspicious gaze fixated on me, she still doesn't believe me, oh well, either way as long as she's away and I'm alone and free to look for my dad there really isn't a problem.

I waited an hour after mum left to go the the apothecary before I left, with google maps as my aid I left on a mission one that could possibly change my life, hopefully for the better.I parked my bike right outside the Bayou and stepped inside the murky forest, it's getting dark now, but still it seemed so beautiful so serene, it felt homey in a sense. I stopped for a second to take a picture of the view, hoping to capture this essence later on in another painting at home.
Going deeper into the Bayou I can hear crickets and bugs chirping and humming, birds fluttering their wings in the trees and in the slight distance something howling... a wolf maybe? I look up into the sky, the moon is full holding itself and proudly illuminating the Bayou I look at it's reflection in the water, I always liked looking at the moon when I was little, I did so much research on it, I even made one of my science projects based of the lunar cycles.
A tree branch snapping brings me out of my daydream, I instinctively whip my head around checking my surroundings, yet I don't see anybody and I don't hear anybody either? I'm just imagining it, note to self, no more horror movies.
I carry on walking to where google maps is leading me, which at this point seems like the middle of nowhere, I stop for a second and get my bearings, but then I feel it again, those same eyes from the funeral scowling into my back, I turn around annoyed that this person will always stare but never announce themselves.
"Well come out now, I've bloody well had it, I know you're there!" I call out into the distance hoping to call the culprit out of their hiding space. I see the eyes this time, maybe it's the lighting in the Bayou or the fireflies or maybe it's the distance but for a second I could almost swear they were... glowing.
"Well? Come on then, be a man and face me you son of b-" my angered sentence is cut off by an abnormally huge wolf striding towards me, glaring deep into my eyes, never letting me go of its stare. Fear fills my body from head to toe, I move back slowly remembering not to move too quickly from the discovery channel on sky.
I quickly accept that I'm a goner and that I'm going to die today without meeting my father, then I hear it another howling only this time I know it's a wolf, the wolf in front of me howls in response, are they, talking to each other? The wolf slowly starts to back away as I take a step back, but then I step on a twig and the large wolfs head snaps back to me, baring it's large pointy teeth, drool dropping from its mouth, I close my eyes and accept my fate.
When my impending doom doesn't come I open them surprised at what I'm seeing, Benji is between me and the wolf.
"Y/n stay where you are don't make any sudden moves." He demands me
"What are you doing here?" I question hiding by his large body
"I could ask you the same damn thing." He sneers at me then turns his head back to the wolf who's now growling at the both of us.
"Get back, I'm warning you." He barked towards the wolf, it didn't seem to care though, in retaliation it turned its head to me and growled, walking closer, that's when I noticed what Benji had in his hand, a jar. Seriously, a jar? What the bloody hell is a jar going to do against a bloodthirsty wolf?
Benji then removed the lid off the glass jar and threw its contents at the wolf, bewilderment struck me, it actually looked like it was, burning? The wolf laid on its stomach and started whining. That's when benji grabbed my arm and dragged us out of there.
We didn't stop running until we were clear out of the Bayou where our bikes were parked. I yank my hand out from his grip and then begin to pace back and forth before stopping in front of a strangely calm Benji.
"What the bloody hell was that!?" I scream at him, he doesn't seem fazed, in fact he doesn't even seem like he's listening to me at all. "Hello? Benji, I said what the hell was that thing? Why did it react that way to the water you threw at it?" Still no response "was it acid?"
"What the hell were you thinking!?"
