The Other Side: Korra and Asami

Chapter 3

After Varrick and Zhu Li left, Korra asked Asami if she could privately talk to her. The two went to a corner and talked.

Korra hesitated and then found the courage to say what’s on her mind. “Hey, so I went here to ask you if you want to go on a picnic later in the spirit world. What do you think?”

“That sounds great! I’ll meet you outside of the spirit portal at 3pm?” Asami said happily

“Okay! I’ll see you later then.” Korra said with so much excitement

Korra then left the mansion. She used her glider to fly around Republic City. While flying around, the avatar daydreamed of the planned picnic with Asami. She saw a cloud form into a familiar face. She stared at it for a while until she realized that the cloud looked like Asami.  She then thought about the beautiful alluring green eyes of Asami and her black hair. Then, their kiss in the spirit world kept on playing in her mind. The avatar was lost in the thought of the magnificent Asami that she didn’t notice that she was about to crash to a plane. The plane grew bigger as she flew closer to it. Her eyes widened as she realized she was about to crash but she was able to make a sharp turn going up just to avoid the plane.

“Phew! I almost crashed to that plane.” Korra exclaimed.

Korra contemplated about what happened while flying her glider. The thought of non-bender distracted her. ‘Why was I thinking about Asami? Well, we are going on a picnic later that’s why I was thinking about her but . . . it doesn’t feel normal. Asami and I are good friends. Good close friends . . . who kissed each other in the lips in the spirit world. KISSED. OH NO! We kissed! Maybe, I have feelings for her or it’s normal for friends to kiss . . .on the lips? Nope!  No way that’s NOT normal. Kissing Asami on the lips is definitely not normal. The thought of her distracted me; I almost crashed to a plane. Maybe, she didn’t think about the kiss and yeah. I shouldn’t think about it that much. I just need to focus on what’s important, MY AVATAR DUTIES.’

After her encounter with the plane, she prepared a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and grape juice. Korra finished preparing and packing for the picnic. She doubled check if she placed everything in the basket. Then she went to the spirit portal and waited outside. Korra nervously waited for Asami, thinking she might not show up. Five minutes had passed and Asami arrived.

“Hey avatar! Are you ready?” Asami said excitedly

“Yup! Let’s go. I bet we’re going to have so much fun.” Korra said with a smile

The two went inside the spirit portal together. When they got inside, they found a perfect place where they can stay.  They placed their blanket on the ground under a giant lily pad where they can see the breath taking view of the mountain.

“Okay, I prepared you my specialty which I believe your chef in the mansion should add in your entree.” Korra proudly said

“Oh really? I wonder what it is?” Asami said teasing Korra

“I’m sure you’ll love it since the avatar made it.” Korra then handed the sandwich to Asami.

“A sandwich? This is your specialty?” Asami said mockingly

“It’s not just a sandwich! It’s a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.” Korra said with delight

The two happily ate their sandwich. Then Korra handed the grape juice to the non-bender.

“Hey Asami?” Korra said

“Yes Korra.”

“Do you want to go here at least once a week? Sometimes, I want to get away from the busy life of Republic City?” Korra said with sincerity

“We could go here everyday if you want.” Asami said while reaching out to hold Korra’s hand. The avatar smiled at her with satisfaction and said, “That sounds great!”

The two gazed into each other’s eyes. Korra froze as Asami moved closer to her back. Then Asami wrapped her arms around the avatar’s waist. Korra noticed the sweet seductive intoxicating smell of the non-bender. The avatar closed her eyes and unconsciously moved her head towards Asami’s neck to smell more of her scent.

“I like spending time with you.” Asami whispered to Korra’s ear. Korra blushed and looked away but then she turned her face to Asami. Then their lips were touching, the electrifying lips of Asami sent pulses of electric waves in Korra’s spine. Korra didn’t move in shock as her heart beat so fast; she waited for the non-bender to make the first move away. Eventually, Asami pulled her lips away. Korra’s face turned red and a grin appeared on her face.

Out of nowhere, Chiki appeared in front of the two with a worried look. 

“Avatar! You need to go back to the physical world now!” Chiki said gasping for air

“What happened?” Korra said worried

“There was a huge explosion in Republic City!”
