Love makes us see our flaws
For better or worse it unlocks a part of us locked

After assuring all three of my neighbors that I indeed did not have a boyfriend I went back to my room. Freya and I spent the rest of the day together until she had to leave, late at night.

Doing my usual routine before bed, I was about to get in the heavenly cloud of peace and sleep when something under the covers caught my eyes.

A gleam of red?

Romeo's red leather jacket!

He forgot his signature jacket at my house?

Part of me was glad he did, it only meant he would have to come back to my house to get it but another part of me worried for him. What was so important that he had to leave so urgently that he forgot something at my house. Something that he wore everyday, nevertheless.

I decided to text him to let him know he forgot it.

Me:

You forgot your jacket here.

No reply.

Emergency, I reminded myself, he must be busy.

Grabbing the jacket, I thought of putting it in my closet but the watermelon-minty scent of Romeo wafted in my nostrils, making my insides weak.

It wouldn't hurt if I slept with the jacket, would it?

No. Why would it hurt?

Content with my reasoning, I got under the covers and snuggled Romeo's jacket close to me.

Live your own life first. Freya's voice scolded me but I ignored it with an anthem of 'it's just for tonight.'

This is creepy. My subconscious pointed out but I ignored that too.

Now I only had to make sure that I didn't drool on it because even if Rome wouldn't know, I'd feel bad.

Thoughts becoming hazy with sleep, I closed my eyes to the waves of the ocean and when day finally came I woke up with the same thoughts.

Man! Why was blue the color for sadness? Because ever since I'd seen it in his eyes, I had felt nothing but joy.

A normal day at the Parker's went something like this. Sunrise, Catherine's bickering, Daniel's whining, my shouting, Breakfast, Mom's shouting then ranting, Lunch and finally when Dad came home, his tuneless singing, sunset, dinner, sleep.

Except today after dinner my parents didn't even give it a second thought when Freya came to pick me up exactly at 8:00 and told rather than asked my parents that their daughter would be out until probably midnight.

Great.

Another Cinderella story!

I had a white tee on and I kept looking at Romeo's jacket, contemplating if he would know if I wore it just for one day.

Oh heavens! Where has Cecily Parker's valor disappeared to?

I mean... I had nothing to wear over my shirt and the jacket was just there. That could be my excuse. Yes. I was going with that. Besides, Cecily Parker did not have to explain herself to anyone.

"Is that...?" Freya frowningly asked, looking at the jacket.

"Yes. Yes, it is. Can we go now?"
