Aly's POV

Dad invited me over to have a lunch. Den's still in Japan.

"So, what's up, Dad?" I asked as soon as I sat down on the chair adjacent to his.

"How's Den?"

"She's doing good, still having her weekly session with Ella."

"Good to hear. Anyway, I need Den to focus on the construction of our new mall in the Philippines."

"Philippines? Dad, are you sure about this?"

"Yes. You said Den's fine now. Besides, she's the President of our Malls. I really need her to manage the project, now that we already bought the land, we should start the construction right away."

"But Dad. I think this is a bad idea."

"And why is that? Are you afraid that Den might cross paths with Chen and her feelings for him will come back?"

"N-no!" I said.

He chuckled at me.

"Why are you being so defensive. Trust Den's love for you."

"Dad! I have trust in her and her love for me. It's just that, I don't trust Chen. He once hurt Den. What makes us sure that he will not do it again."

"Come on, Ly. I know you have a better plan, I know you have something to pull under your sleeves. Let's trust Den with this one. If something goes wrong, you two will go back in Calgary."

"Dad! I don't want to be the one sitting in front of Ella in the end."

"I know you won't let that happen. Ly, come on. I won't even let something bad happen with Den. I'm treating her as my own daughter." Dad said trying to convince me.

"It's really not a good idea." I said ending our conversation.

"Besides, you have a project in Russia. You can't let Den stay here in Calgary and ask her to wait for you." Dad reminded.

"I know. It's... Uh! Nevermind!" I frustratedly said.

My Dad chuckled at me. I'm really close with him and I'm really happy that when he found out that I like Den, he didn't stop me from pursuing her. He lets me do everything that I want to do. He sees Den as his own daughter and I'm just the asshole boyfriend of his daughter. Wow. The tables have turned. I'm not my Dad's favorite anymore, but that's fine with me. Dennise became an orphan at a very young age. I want her to feel that everyone loves her.
