haechan quickly put his mask on as his eyes wavered around their surroundings cautiously now that hyeri saw his face clearly.
"well," dayoung smiled. "haechan this is my little sister hyeri, hyeri this is-," she stopped abruptly. "wait, are you my friend?" she asked while moving her body towards haechan.
the said boy lazily shrugged his shoulders, not knowing how to answer that too.
"oh, so we aren't..." dayoung dragged off disappointingly, feeling her smile falter.
haechan widen his eyes, suddenly feeling guilt at the girl whose mood changed. he cleared his throat as he looked up at the crystal, blue sky. "what am i suppose to be then? your grandpa?" he scoffed out jokingly. "of course you're my friend, doofus," he smiled before ruffling her hair.
almost instantly, dayoung's expression brighten up with delight as her nose started to scrunch out of happiness.
hyeri raised her brows up in amusement, seeing the genuine happiness dayoung displayed in front of her in a long time warmed up her heart.
dayoung hadn't been this happy in a long time.
"anyways," hyeri said as she cleared her throat. "hi, i'm hyeri and i'm a big fan," she eagerly gushed out as she outstretched her hand to shake his, trying to stay calm.
reluctantly, haechan brought his right hand up, ultimately unlatching his hands from dayoung's as he shook hyeri's hand.
and visibly, dayoung's mood slowly changed at the lost of contact between her and haechan, her emotions going unnoticed. but surely, she shook her head at herself. it wasn't about her but about hyeri, and so a smile climbed onto her lips once again.
"you're an nctzen?" haechan beamed out, admiration shimmering in his eyes.
immediately nodding, hyeri's eyes were big with her mouth agape, still not believing she was meeting her idol.
"thank you for always supporting me and nct," he continued to say, feeling happiness that he still has fans after his scandals.
"of course," hyeri curtly said. "you guys make my life a whole lot better, i should be thanking you," she giggled.
"see, booty," dayoung smiled as she nudged haechan. "people still love you for you, so don't let those empty words get to you."
at this, haechan's smile immediately widen at the thought, feeling a lot better than before as he started to nod his head.
"anyways, why were you in the cafe by yourself?" dayoung asked.
"i came to get coffee for the group since i lost a game," haechan snickered.
dayoung glanced at haechan's hands, realizing that his left hand grasped onto a basket filled with cups of coffee.
"oh..." she slowly said, not knowing what else to say.
