"are you still down with our christmas celebration tradition?" dayoung asked minjoon through the phone.

"i don't about this year..." minjoon dragged out.

visibly frowning, dayoung kicked the pebble that was near her feet as she continued to sway lightly on the swing she was on. "why not?"

"i'm just busy with managing this year, the boys have more award shows to go to," minjoon sighed. "i don't think we will be able to stay up listening to christmas songs and give each other our gifts this year."

"so no hot chocolate and no cupcakes?" dayoung asked, her lips straightening.

"i guess not. i'm so sorry dayoung, it's just been hectic. trust me, i want to do it too but my schedule doesn't let me," minjoon guiltily let out.

"no, it's fine honestly. i'm sad we can't but i understand that you're busy," dayoung huffed out an air of breathe as her eyes lingered on hyeri's figure playing with the little kids on the playground.

"i promise i'll make it up to you," minjoon rushed out.

"no need to," dayoung softly smiled out. "next time we see each other, we can give our gifts."

"yes, of course," minjoon replied.

dayoung nodded her head slowly as she contemplated. "where are you right now?"

"just in the practice room again," minjoon voiced out as on cued, loud music boomed through the phone.

"you're not going to be home?" dayoung asked with a nervous waver in her voice, looking at her attire and looking back at hyeri.

"no, not today or tomorrow. why?" minjoon replied back shouting, trying to make sure dayoung heard her over the loud music.

"it's nothing, really," dayoung lied.

"what was that?" minjoon yelled out.

"it's nothing-."

"what?" minjoon continued to yell out.

softly laughing, dayoung shook her head. "i'm going to go. i hope we can meet soon, i miss you."

"you what?" minjoon questioned with loud music still blasting out.

"i said i miss you," dayoung shouted out too, hoping minjoon will finally hear her.

"oh, i miss you too. get home safely," minjoon shouted back.

dayoung's smile immediately falter at the mention of home, her lips dropping down with sadness and anger. "yeah, for sure. bye, minjoon."

"goodbye, dayoung."

and with that, dayoung dropped all strength in her arm as it fell limp on her lap.

she bit her lip out of worry, not knowing where to go.
