🎵My uptown girl🎵
-Billy Joel
Hunter pov:
She's been through so much. She's been through stuff a child shouldn't have to go through and would be destroyed if they did yet she's still here, smiling and laughing.
The thought of being practically sold to get married to someone else was disgusting. My blood boiled at the thought, she's- she's innocent and so young. What type of parents would do that to their child? Just sell them off?
And her brother? The moment I meet him, I'll be punching the fucking daylights out of him. Such an asshole and jerk, treating his sister like she's some cover up for him. She's a human being who deserves just as much as love and attention as everyone else. She has feelings. She has a life.
She's blamed herself for too long to be a murderer when she did nothing. It was her parents. They don't even deserve to be called her parents, they're monsters.
"Tell me something about yourself." She murmurs while picking at the grass as she lays her back against my chest.
I'd gotten her to calm down and not wanting to let the others back home see her in a mess, I thought staying here would be better. She told me about her parents, her brother, the 14th of February people. She let all her feelings out and I listened to her.
"What do you wanna know?" Resting my chin on her shoulder and wrapping my arms around her little waist.
Her hair is so soft.
She takes a few seconds, slowly taking my left hand in hers, unconsciously playing with my fingers and rubbing her thumb on my palm.
"Something. Anything." She simply answers.
I rack through my memory.
My childhood. My parents. My siblings. My family. Everything.
Wanting to annoy her, I say, "My name's Hunter King."
Her body slumps back, "No, tell me something else. Something like.....tell me about what you do for fun other than working and glaring at everyone." I glare at everyone?
"Fun?" Testing the word. It sounds so foreign.
"Yeah, you know? Fun. Enjoying yourself and laughing and being happy and- and taking a break to play or- or like do something other than work." She jumps, making my teeth clank with each other and bite my tongue.
Fucking hurts like a bitch! Ouch!
She hadn't noticed my distress and pain as she continued trying to define a three lettered word.
"I know what fun means princess." I grumble, trying to stay calm as the pain still ran through my tongue.
"Like you and I were having fun the other day baking-"
"I was having fun doing other stuff actually."
She ignores me and keeps going on and on about her explanation.
"You might've not been passionate about it but you were smiling and laughing and sharing those things about little Hunter."
Little Hunter goes up whenever you're close.
"Umm, I have fun...kissing you?" I answer unsure of what I should say.
"That's not fun, that's being a horny bitch Hunter. Choose something else." She pouts, sizing both of our hands.
