Sierra's pov:
I didn't know what happened next, everything was a blur.
'Granny got shot.'
'Granny got shot.'
'Granny got shot.'The words kept on running through my head.
No no no no, it's all a prank. This is a joke, I'll get a call again right now and it'll be Granny and Lacey laughing, saying it was a joke.
Lacey. Lacey oh my god, was she okay?
Frozen in place. That's what I was. I hear muffled shouts from the phone and the device in my hand is taken.
A hand on my shoulder, I feep light taps on my cheek, I'm shook, everything to get my attention but I couldn't...I couldn't move...I couldn't.
A sob escapes my traitorous lips, one by one, my tears fall, soon enough those sobs turned into cries and those tears were a waterfall running down my cheeks.
Incoherently trying to explain, trying to stop my choking, my hands running to my head and throwing the cap off to pull my hair.
I didn't know how to react to situations like this, im not supposed to. This wasn't supposed to happen.
The squeaking of the garage door grabs everyone's attention and I just hope...I wish that's Hunter, he needs to know right now. We need to go right now.
"Hey, the car needed some tyre changing and they didn't have any spare tyre so I brought the car and the ow- what's wrong?" Hunter looks at Markus, his eyes roaming around everyone who was huddled around me until they stop and stare in mine.
"Baby," I croak out, almost, almost, about to burst out in tears again, "Gra-Granny, sh-she got shot."
******
I hated this.
The fear and dread on his face, on Lacey.
They aren't supposed to go through so much, why does God do this? Why's he doing this? They're innocent people that...that aren't supposed to go through so much.
I wrapped my arms tighter around Lacey, caressing her hair and comforting her, trying to to get her to stop crying.
"She- she's leaving us. J-just like mommy and daddy did, she's l-leaving us too." burying her head into my chest, I do what I do best, whisper sweet and consoling words.
Lies.
Hunter sat in the chair beside us, his face in his palms, he kept on mumbling words, strings or curses. He hadn't said a word to me, or anyone except Lacey since we'd gotten here.
Hailey had gone back home, told me as soon as we'd reached that she'll come back after dropping her cousins home.
Heavy footsteps run towards us, looking away from Lacey, I see Sam. His hair was all messed up, red cheeks and nose, puffy eyes, "Wh-where's Granny?" he asks, standing in front of Hunter.
