Emma's POV

I look at the sapling I planted to memorialise me and Killian's unborn child. I glance at the plaque that is here too. I feel better now that there is something to always remember our child. This sapling will grow into a brilliant tree. It will represent our child growing up. If they had had the chance, they would've grown into something amazing just like the tree. I smile softly and close my eyes.

"Emma! There you are." I hear my mother say.  I turn around and see her walking up to me. She looks up at the sapling. "Oh Emma! It's beautiful!" she says.

"Thanks Mom." I say, my voice breaking at the end. "Oh sweetie." She wraps her arm around me.

"This letter came for you. It's from Rumpelstiltskin." I took the note from her and started to read. Tomorrow, our magic lessons will begin. Meet me at my castle at 9. Don't be late. I sigh.

"What is it?" she asks. "Magic lessons. It was apart of a deal I made." I answered. She sighs.

"Just be careful. Rumpelstiltskin is very powerful. And very dangerous." she tells me.

"I know. Don't worry, Mom. I can look after myself." I comfort her. She nods. I hug her and then we walk back into the castle. I walk to end enter me and Killian's room.

"Hello Love." he says. I walk into his arms and kiss him.

"Do you want to do something tomorrow?" he asks. I sigh.

"I can't. Rumpelstiltskin is teaching me magic." His face darkens and he growls protectively. "Killian, it's okay."

"I know him better than you, Love. He's a demon and he uses dark magic. I'm just worried." "He's not going to hurt me at all. He's just going to teach me magic." I say.

He nods. "I know. It's just he's a dark person. I'm just-"

"Worried about me turning dark?" I ask. "Yes."

"Killian, I'm not going to turn dark. Don't worry." He bites his lip. I place a hand on his face. "Look at me. I'm going to be okay. Everything is going to be alright. Remember. We will be able to do anything. Together." I say. He gives a small smile and I kiss him softly.

"Just be careful. I don't know what I'd do if something bad happened to you." he said.

"Of course."

The next morning...

I walked into Rumpelstiltskin's castle and looked about. "Gold? I'm here." Nobody answered. I threw my hands up in annoyance. I was here at 9 AM sharp but he wasn't. I sighed and crossed my arms.

"Gold? You there?" I shout again. I hear a woosh and then a high-pitched giggle.

"Over here, dearie." I turned around and I raised my eyebrows. Did he have to be so dramatic? "Right. Let's get this over with." I said. He giggled again and walked closer.

"I heard that you have already used magic."

"Yeah but I can't really control it that well." I say.

"Well that's what we'll work on today." he told me. "How do we do that?" He giggled once more. "We need to push your instincts to the limit. And once we do that, you should have full control over your magic." I cock my head to the side. What is he going to do?

With a wave of his hand, Killian appears and Gold starts to choke him. "Killian! No!" I shout. "Emma." he moaned. No. I can't lose him. A lump appears in my throat and my chest tightens. "Let him go!" I scream.

"Make me." Gold spits. I close my eyes. I don't know what to do. He's too powerful. I'm going to lose the person that matters the most to me. It feels like my heart is breaking. My eyes start to swim and I moan. Then, I feel the power. Something flies out of me and knocks Gold over. Killian disappears.
