Quarantine Changed Us

Chapter 3

Alix thanked her phone when it went off with a call from her brother.

"Hey" she held it up to her ear.

"Are you going to be home soon"? He asked.

"Yeah, I'll be right there" she hung up and turned to her friends. "I have to go, see you all tomorrow".

"Bye Alix"! They all bid her farewell.

Once she got back home, all she wanted was to go to sleep. "Hi dad" She greeted him as he came in the house.

"Hello sweetie" he placed a kiss on her forehead. Alix crinkled her nose at that.

"How was school"? Alim asked. "Good" she answered flatly. Her dad sighed and sat down on the couch beside her. "I know you may have heard the news and I want to tell you that I also have some news".

Alix nodded, signaling him to continue. "If André decides on the quarantine, I'm sending you somewhere else, while Jalil and I take care of the museum".

Alix couldn't believe her ears. "What! Sending me where"?!

"André and I agreed that you should be quarantined with his daughter, I believe she's in your class" Alim said.

Alix's mouth hung open. She stood up and paced around the room. "I know it's not ideal but you would hate being stuck here".

"You want me" she pointed to herself. "To stay with Bourgeois". Her dad nodded.

"It'll just be for a week".

Alix smiled to hide the fact she was mad. "Thanks dad, I'm glad you thought about me".

"Of course, I want what's best for you" he said. "If you don't mind, I'm really tired and should rest".

"When is the announcement"? Alix asked.

"Same as today, at noon" Mr. Kubdel stood and hugged her. "I knew you and Chloe were friends from watching you two during events, I'm glad you two stick together and fend off suitors".

Alix laughed and pulled away. "Goodnight dad". He nodded and left to his own room. As soon as she heard the door close, her smile fell into a frown.

She quickly went into her room before Jalil could ask her what she was talking about with their dad.

Alix closed the door and jumped into her bed. She looked around and wondered if she should call someone about this.

But instead she did the next best thing.

Grabbing a pillow, she shoved her face into it and screamed. After a few seconds she stopped.

"Tomorrow is going to be a nightmare".

The next morning, Alix refused to talk to anyone about the situation and carried on like nothing happened.

Chloe didn't mention anything about it so maybe she hadn't heard.

"I really hope we do the whole quarantine thing, I don't want school" Kim said.

"Same, plus we would skip a test and have more time to study" Marinette said. Everyone was sitting around one table in order to watch the news.

"Well I don't want the quarantine" Alix said. Everyone turned to her with confused looks.

"I'll explain after..." she trailed off when she saw Chloe marching up to her.

Alix stood from her seat.

"What's with all the glares today, Kubdel"?! The blonde yelled, Sabrina nowhere in sight.

"Did you not hear the "great news"? Alix snapped.

"What news"!? Chloe demanded answers.

"Well Bourgeois, you and I are going to be quarantined together for a week"! Alix yelled. Chloe stepped back surprised.

"Really..."? she glanced at Alya's phone and watched her father give the announcement.

*The quarantine will last a week. All Parisians will remain inside at all times. This is effective as of tomorrow. Essential stores will remain open to allow people to get food. We will continue to monitor the virus but we have been told it is under control... Thank you Paris*

Chloe turned back to Alix in horror. They glared at each other before Chloe spoke up.

"You'll probably get your own room so we don't HAVE to be with each other all day" she stated.

"Fair point" Alix said.

"I dare you to hang out with each other everyday of quarantine from the time you wake up to when you go to bed"! Kim yelled.

"Oooh that's harsh" Alya laughed. Everyone laughed at the shocked expressions on both the girls faces.

"We in agreement on what to do next"? Alix asked. "Oh yeah" Chloe said.

Chloe smacked him across the face. "You stupid idiot"! She yelled.

Alix was amused by Chloe's anger.
"Yeah that was a good slap I don't need to double it" Alix said. Kim sulked, holding his cheek.

"I still hate you" Chloe hissed and strutted off.

"I know you don't, but see you tonight Bourgeois"! She yelled after her.

"Shut up Kubdel"!

Chloe didn't bother to turn back as she yelled it. Alix returned to the table and continued her lunch.

"You and Chloe have a different relationship" Alya said.

"What do you mean"? Alix questioned.

"You two definitely have some sort of connection with each other" Nino said.

"We hang around at parties and events, that's all" Alix said casually. She didn't bother mentioning that they had been best friends in the past.

Everyone's eyes widened. Obviously they all forgot Alix was rich.

"I always forget you're rich" Mylene said.

"Good, I don't want to be remembered like that" Alix finished her lunch and the bell rang.

She looked around the table and no one had eaten their food.

"Shove it in your mouths, easiest way to do it" Alix snickered and left.

"Spending more time with Chloe, maybe I'll learn something new about her".

Alix, in fact, would learn something new, but little did she know, she would open up to the mayor's daughter.
