Chloe has had bad days and so has Alix but those were nothing compared to the three days they spent not talking to each other.
They didn't talk much at school, but they loved to bicker with each other.
And both liked the others company but were to stubborn to talk first.
Chloe stole glances at the pinknette as she talked on the phone with someone.
"You're almost done"? She said surprised. "That's great, I know how hard you and Marc worked on the second book".
There was a pause. "Of course I want to read it, why wouldn't I"? Her face scrunch up. "You can't make me a superhero in the third book".
Chloe could practically hear Nathaniel questioning why.
"Because Timebreaker is...you know" Alix said. "I knew you'd understand, thanks Nath, yeah bye". She hung up and saw Chloe staring at her.
She realized Alix was looking back at her and looked away.
"Do you regret Timebreaker"? Chloe asked. Alix looked at the ground.
"Do you regret Queen Wasp"? Alix asked back.
The blonde didn't reply. Alix just shut down the conversation and walked onto the balcony.
Chloe sighed. Probably the worst thing to ask after three days.
Alix walked out onto the balcony and looked at the grey sky.
"Why did she have to ask about it" She thought. "It was completely my fault". Alix sighed.
She pulled the puck watch out of her pocket and traced her thumb over it. At least it was fixed.
After a few minutes, she went back inside and head to the door.
"Remember, storm tonight, make sure the balcony doors are closed" Alix told Chloe before leaving.
Chloe saw the dark clouds and hugged herself. She wasn't a big fan of storms, especially thunder and lightning, not after a bad situation she was put in.
"Are you going to be alright, Miss Chloe"? Jean-Louis asked. "Yes, I'll be fine" she smiled.
"Alright, goodnight, Mademoiselle" he closed the door and Chloe took a deep breath.
She got into her pajamas and made sure the balcony doors were locked before getting into bed with mr. cuddly.
"Maybe Alix will...no she's mad at me" Chloe held in tears. "Maybe there won't be thunder tonight", she thought to calm herself down, in order to drift off to sleep.
Alix laid in bed, staring at the ceiling. She thought about Chloes reaction when she heard about the storm.
She remembered Chloe hated storms as a kid, maybe she hadn't grown out of that.
"I hope she'll be ok" Alix whispered to herself. She turned over and fell asleep.
———
Chloe was woken up by a loud rumble.
Her eyes were wide and she saw a flash outside. "It's just noise, it can't hurt you" She said.
The thunder crashed louder and Chloe jumped out of bed. Not knowing where she was going or what she was doing, she ended up knocking on Alix's door.
Another rumble made Chloe knock again. Alix opened the door and rubbing her eyes.
"Chloe"? She took in the blonde standing in the doorway and noticed her shaking. "Chloe, are you...crying"?
Once again, a the loud noise came back to taunt Chloe.
She let out a sob and Alix pulled her into the room gently. "It's ok, you'll be fine" she closed the door and Chloe curled up on the bed.
"I'm... s-sorry I woke you" she trembled. Alix got in bed and pulled the blankets over the two of them. "I don't mind, I was awake, listening to the rain".
Chloe looked at her with teary eyes. "Are you going to tell me what this is about"? Alix asked.
"I don't expect you to remember" Chloe answered quietly.
"Remember what"? Alix asked, just to make her forget the loud storm outside. Chloe recalled what had happened that made her afraid.
["Mommy"? Young Chloe searched the empty place for her mom. "Daddy"? She saw a flash out the window that followed a loud crash. She screamed and dove under a table, hugging her knees into her chest. "I wanna go home" Chloe wailed into the emptiness.]
Chloe's parents weren't the best.
"You know I was there, right"? Alix said, getting the blonde to look up at her.
[Alix heard a cry. "Mommy, someones hurt" she tugged on her mothers hand. "I'm sure it's fine, bunny" Alice Kubdel rubbed her daughters head. There was another loud rumble and an even louder cry, that startled the whole Kubdel family. Alix yanked her hand out of her mothers and ran as fast as her little legs could carry her. She ran into the ballroom and saw Chloe shaking under a table. Young Alix quietly slid under the table and pulled her bestfriend into her arms. "You'll be ok, blondie".]
"I always stay with daddy on these kinds of nights but he forgot" she cried. "And I wasn't going to come because you're mad at me".
"No, it's ok, I'm here" Alix stroked Chloe's hair lightly, which seemed to calm her down.
She moved closer and laid her head on Alix's lap as she ran her fingers through her hair.
"Thank you" she whispered. "Anytime, blondie".
They sat in silence for a while.
Chloe had calmed down with the help of Alix and only jumped a little at the thunder.
The storm quieted down and Chloe was able to drift off to sleep. Alix smiled at the sleeping girl in her lap.
"Goodnight" she whispered.
She moved Chloe onto a pillow and laid on her own. Alix stared at the darkness between her and the blonde for a moment until Chloe shifted and leaned into her chest.
Alix knew she wouldn't remember cuddling with her tomorrow but it didn't stop her from putting her arm around her and falling asleep.
