The heavy mahogany door clicked open, and the room service attendant pushed a silver cart draped in white linen into the sprawling penthouse. He offered a polite, professional bow, though his eyes darted slightly toward the rumpled couch cushions.
"Good evening, sir! Did I happen to disturb you?" the boy asked, completely oblivious to the fiery atmosphere he had just interrupted. "By the way, here is your gourmet dinner for tonight, sir. Eat well! You can just leave the pushcart right outside your double doors after you've finished dining. I shall take my leave now, sir."
Aish... what on earth is good about this evening? You literally just destroyed my only chance... aish! Kook groaned silently in his mind, aggressively running a hand through his dark hair.
The moment the doors clicked shut behind the attendant, Kook let out a frustrated sigh, pushing the cart full of steaming, luxurious dishes over to the sofa where Tae was frantically rebuttoning his shirt.
Kook’s expression softened instantly as he looked at his secretary’s flushed face. "Eyyy, Tae. Let's just sit down and eat dinner here together first before I drive you home... okay?"
Tae nervously cleared his throat, nodding his head shyly. "Oh... okay."
Kook handed him a set of silver utensils, sitting close enough that their shoulders brushed. "By the way, Tae... when would you officially like to transfer your belongings into this unit?"
Tae paused, looking around the breathtaking, high-end apartment before offering a small, thoughtful smile. "I want to ask my father for his permission first, Kookie. That way, he won't have to worry about my living situation or where I am."
Kook smiled deeply, feeling a surge of respect for how deeply Tae cared for his dad. "Okay! Perfect. Just let me know the exact day, okay?"
"Yeah! Yeah, okay, I definitely will!" Tae giggled softly.
"Good! Alright, let's eat then. The food looks absolutely incredible... here, try this one first, Tae."
The two of them thoroughly enjoyed their private dinner, the lingering tension melting into a sweet, comfortable atmosphere. Once they finished, Kook guided Tae back down to his sleek sports car. He navigated the quiet night streets, safely dropping Tae off right in front of his modest residential gate.
After sharing a lingering, reluctant goodbye, Tae stepped out of the vehicle and watched the sports car disappear into the dark before slipping inside.
Tae’s POV
Stepping into the dark hallway, Tae braced himself, but the house was completely silent. It seemed his stepmother, Ms. Bony, and his stepsister, Jenny, were completely out for the night. Letting out a massive sigh of relief, Tae ran straight upstairs to the sanctuary of his bedroom. He took a long, steaming shower, washing away the cold mountain air and the frantic heat of the sofa.
After towel-drying his hair, he slipped into his favorite soft, white sleeping robe. Tucking himself under the thick blankets, he stared up at the ceiling, his mind completely hijacked by the memory of Kook's deep voice and burning touch.
You know those beautiful, rare moments where someone suddenly enters your life and makes you entirely happy? Tae thought, a soft, wistful smile gracing his lips.
But sometimes... you feel so incredibly happy that you become terrified it comes with a devastating price. But still, you can't just let your fear of future sadness steal your current joy, right? It's always better to just cherish and relish those beautiful moments while they're here.
Tae let out a long, dramatic sigh, rolling over onto his stomach. Haist... is this all just a beautiful dream? If it really is an illusion, I don't ever want to wake up again.
