The Velvet Coffin
Kookie’s POV
I was completely surrounded and hyper-fixated on by a massive, impenetrable wall of elite family bodyguards. My biological mother refused to let my corporate asset step a single inch outside the grand perimeter of the estate, and to make my entire soul short-circuit... TaeTae had completely, utterly vanished into thin air without leaving a single trace or informing my circle of his destination.
Where the fuck did he go? Why on earth would he abandon our sanctuary without warning me first?!
Driven by pure, unadulterated panic, I was just about to sprint back upstairs to desperately attempt a reckless escape directly out of the master bedroom window, when I suddenly saw our head family Nanny rushing down the corridor toward my position, her face filled with deep distress.
"Master! Master Kookie! Please, stop!" Nanny panted out frantically. "Your biological mother strictly demands your immediate presence inside the grand dining room right now."
My mind was completely confused, a dark wave of intense nervousness instantly flooding my chest. I highly suspected that Mr. Yuri and his toxic daughter had already crossed the threshold of the mansion. I knew exactly where this high-society conversation was going to lead, and every single fiber of my being utterly rejected it.
Biting the inside of my cheek, I silently followed Nanny down the long hallway toward the dining area. The exact second my boots stepped onto the polished hardwood floor, my gaze locked onto the horrific scene. My mother, Devorah, was sitting comfortably, engaging in a highly warm conversation with a girl—it was the arrogant brat, Lisa. Sitting directly across from my mother, looking incredibly smug and calculating, was the La Casa patriarch himself, Mr. Yuri.
I hated this.
I thoroughly, absolutely hated every single ounce of this room. But looking at the tight, fragile state of my mother’s chest, I possessed no logical choice. I didn't want to trigger her volatile heart condition and cause a catastrophic medical headache, so I forced my heavy body to sit down on the isolated far side of the long mahogany table.
My mother’s sharp eyes immediately registered my arrival, a forced, aristocratic smile gracing her lips as she greeted me. "Oh! Kookie, my dear son... why on earth are you wearing a heavy leather motorcycle jacket at the breakfast table? Are you currently planning to recklessly go out riding on your motorbike, huh?"
Before I could even formulate a cold corporate response, Lisa’s high-pitched voice sliced through the air, her eyes scanning my chest with a thirsty, desperate gaze. "Yaaaahhh! Kookie, you look so incredibly good in that leather jacket! Omo, it seriously suits your dominant proportions so perfectly!"
Tsk... this absolute brat. I honestly just could not deal with her shallow, irritating presence.
I completely ignored her existence, staring blankly ahead as the private estate maids entered the perimeter, quietly laying out a massive spread of luxury morning foods. We began eating in a tense, suffocating silence, which was rapidly broken by my mother’s ambitious voice.
