The Judgment of Devorah

TaeTae’s POV

I was walking completely alone across the grand driveway, heading back toward the main entrance of the mansion after Kookie had so ruthlessly abandoned my presence in the middle of the grass. My logical mind was entirely incapable of calculating what on earth was wrong with his possessive state of mind—why on earth did his temper get so incredibly mad and defensive the exact second my lips told him that I simply wanted to return home to my own sanctuary?

Moving with quiet, heartbroken paces, I crossed the threshold of the lobby. But as I was heading directly toward the grand staircase to retreat to my room, my gaze suddenly locked onto Mrs. Jeon. The formidable matriarch was standing near the panoramic window, actively conversing with someone over her high-end smartphone line. Desperate to avoid a high-society confrontation, I decided to completely ignore her existence and proceed with my walking—but I absolutely didn't expect that her sharp, calculating eyes would instantly track my movement and call out to my presence.

"Hey... pretty boy," her crisp, elite voice boomed through the quiet hallway. "Come over here immediately. I possess something specific to tell your circle."

The exact second her command hit my ears, my heart began beating so incredibly fast from pure, unadulterated panic. I became intensely nervous all at once, experiencing that specific, suffocating feeling like I desperately needed to pee right then and there. But forcing my internal panic down into the dirt, I managed to keep my facial expression completely blank, turning my body around to smoothly walk over to where Mrs. Jeon was standing.

"Your name is Taehyung, correct?" Mrs. Jeon questioned coldly, her sharp eyes scanning my facial proportions. "Do not bother asking my circle where I acquired your identity. But right now, I simply need to ask your presence a highly direct question."

The very moment those words left her blood-red lips, my entire physical anatomy felt as if it were completely freezing into ice. I didn't possess a single logical answer as to why my instincts were operating under such severe nervousness. Oh my gosh... does Mrs. Jeon possess the absolute, real-time knowledge regarding my hidden relationship with Kookie? Gosh, I honestly don't know what to execute right now... I cleared my throat, forcing my voice to sound smooth and respectful. "Ahmmm... yes, Madame. I am indeed Taehyung."

"So, okay," Mrs. Jeon replied smoothly, a dark, knowing smirk playing at the corners of her mouth. "I possess an absolute awareness of what is currently going on inside this estate. I know for a factual reality that you and Kookie are—"

KRING! KRING! 📱💥

Before her lips could finalize that terrifying, heart-stopping sentence, a loud, aggressive incoming phone call suddenly erupted from her designer smartphone, violently interrupting her train of thought. Mrs. Jeon frowned slightly, stopping her lecture as she slid her manicured thumb across the glass to answer it.

"I must urgently take this international call, Taehyung," Mrs. Jeon commanded strictly, waving her hand to dismiss my frame. "You may go and locate Kookie's whereabouts right now. Let us officially continue our private conversation later tonight."
